Things that take place over too long a period of time. Like heart disease, injustice, climate change, diabetes, addiction etc. We're evolved to prioritise short term pleasure over long term benefits, hence that cigarette, drink, line, burger is so difficult to say no to.

As an addiction therapist, I think it would be a long time. As a nurse, about 6 hours before the number would start rising awfully quick.
Selfishness within reason is good.

Kremlinology tripped me up way more than it should have.
Is this an American thing? Why would anyone be anti union (apart from the given example of getting a job)? Even the decimated unions of the UK are still thought to be fairly positive seeking for better rights. Genuinely asking.
Is there an actual history of this sort of thing or is it only from Inglorious Basterds?
