I feel like this is a pretty crass joke to make.

A good friend of mine found a body a few months ago. It's a pretty shitty experience. And it's actually a lot like what OP describes. A sense of foreboding and suspicion combined with a conviction that these thoughts are foolish. And an uncertainty whether to check or to alert someone or to just try to forget it.

Op, I'd report it and ask them to please follow up with you and let you know. It's probably nothing, and you'll feel better once you know it was nothing, and that you did the responsible thing in having it dealt with.

Yeah, and more importantly, Biden needs to learn the public component of diplomacy.

I read his interview in Time, and it's weird, because it at least gave me some aspect into what he's thinking.

He's old as fuck. He has learned decades of procedures and standard practice in diplomacy, and he does NOT understand that a lot of it happens in the open now. Biden thinks he's playing chess with all the diplomatic messages he sends along backchannels, and he has no idea that this is just an arm wrestling match now. People judge you by what you say and do transparently.

Biden legit thinks he and Bibi are like cousins who grew up together who are having a tough fight, and Bibi is all fucking politics. He'd slit any throat he has to get what he wants, and he will bury Biden in a heartbeat.

Biden should go to Israel, and in a public address announce that the country is turning a corner: it will be safer than ever, and America is going to assist with a long term peace process, which they won't lead but will provide security guarantees for. And don't tell Bibi any of this in advance. And when Bibi reacts, say that Bibi has lost his trust and that of the elected public, and they need to hold new elections before getting any new weapons. Get some 'nads, man!

I wouldn't mind a complete cut-off in weapons, but I also wouldn't mind if they continue to supply rocket defenses or something if its part of a pressure campaign to send Netanyahu packing. I want Israeli prosecutors and the Hague to argue over who gets to lock his ass up first.

Whoa, whoa, whoa!

Are you telling me that if we support autocratic ethnonationalist strongmen who target minorities and political opponents with violence... ... it might hurt an American??? /s

I didn't read this article. What the hell? He's doing all this shit out in the open. It's not a darker side, it's just his front-facing side.

I wish this was a non-violent resistance movement lead by someone that believed in peace and democracy.

A lot of people don't know this, but they tried this in 2018. It was called the Great March of Return. Gazaans tried protesting non violently for weeks, and faced a fierce violent response, but it was largely ignored by international news.

This is truly horrific. I think anyone with a kid is hit especially hard. Imagining my kid drinking contaminated water, and being too tired to play, and just sitting in a makeshift tent, unable to get a good night's rest, constantly running from bombs... That's hell. No child should have to experience that.

I just want to preempt any debate over whether these claims are credible by saying that they are fundamentally not relevant to the long-term needs of this situation.

Palestinians in Gaza, the West Bank, East Jerusalem, and Israel need to be afforded their human rights. Israelis need security, and will never get it from violence and ruthless persecution of this ethnic underclass they've created.

My point is that if you diagram out the best of course of action, all nodes on that diagram that are based on what Hamas has or hasn't done lead to no meaningful difference. Their violence is abhorrent. There is no point is debating over their tactics or location however, because none of it changes the harsh realities that only a negotiation that provides Palestinians access to safe homes, education, food, etc. is going to bring an end to the cycle of violence, and I feel compelled to point this out whenever these distractions pop up, as they do on a daily basis.

I would second this. Based on what I've read, he seems like a pretty standard megalomaniacal tech billionaire, but when you're right you're right. And his take here is right, and I'm grateful for it. Especially coming from a fellow Jew. Our voices in particular are a powerful tool for protecting our Muslim brothers and sisters.

I'm not an expert, but my understanding is that military service is mandatory for all, with a few exceptions.

The ultra religious communities are exempt, which has become increasingly unpopular over time.

Also, the head of Israel's domestic police force, Itmar Ben Givir was rejected for mandatory service in his teens because of his extremism.

Generally, though, leaders children serve.

To add to this, it's farcical because these people are in Netanyahu's cabinet.

The chief of Israel's national police was already on US and Israeli watchlists. He was convicted of terrorism in Israel in 2006. And now he's in charge of the police, and is arming settlers and encouraging them to violently take the land by force. I'm sure telling him that he can't visit the Grand Canyon is going to fix this.

They're probably anonymous because it'd be awkward for Blinken if the culprits have pictures of themselves shaking his hand last weekend.

For those looking for details, Google Itmar Bin Givir and Bezalel Smotrich.

I just want to say that this is absolute clown-level CEOing.

Let's just set aside the naked antipathy for labor concerns. Let's pretend we're heartless investors.

If I heard a CEO say this, my first thoughts would be:

  • Why the fuck are you declaring an intention to remove people BEFORE the replacement is ready? If the technology is so ready, then deploy it and cut the workers after you've implemented it. Do you have any idea what you're talking about? This is sophomore level business shit. You sound like a 14 year old on Twitter.

  • Why the fuck are you generating this kind of press? Particularly for a company with a FAMOUS history of loyalty to its workers? Even if it's now bullshit, you're pissing on the brand, asshole.

  • Wasn't Watson a big famous over-hyped public embarrassment? Did you learn nothing about managing expectations?

  • The work you say you're excited to replace is the core business services you sell, and I don't know what product you're talking about. OpenAI has a product. Explain why they're not about to devour your business while you're out here talking nonsense.

This guy sounds like a moron.

This is the introductory flavor text to a tabletop RPG I'm working on (which is currently in beta if anyone wants to try it!). For context, the game is meant to provide solarpunk action adventure, and is intended to deliberately subvert the tone of cyberpunk RPG games. Constructive feedback is encouraged.

" Ablation narrowed their feline eyes as they assessed the situation. The Basalt Assault crew had the team pinned down. Ore was barreling towards them at terrifying speed. With all other options gone, Ablation silently prayed to the spirits and took their only shot. It was a desperate fade-away from behind the three, but it landed. The net swished. And the crowd lost their shit.

Just then, an urgent message broke through Ablation’s call block to appear in their HUD. It was from Rez, and read “PRIORITY 1”. Ablation grabbed their comm collar from the courtside bench. The moment its conduction speaker contacted their neck the ringer blared to life in their head.

“Hey Rez. Report?”

“Suppression-extraction. Malibu. I’m enroute to you now. Can you clear Pegasus a space?”

“Yeah. Who’s the target?” Ablation turned to the other players. “Make some room!”

“It’s a commune of fifty sovereigns. They refused assist yesterday. Since then their primary and backup heat absorbers failed.”

Ablation looked toward the virtual indicator in their AR contact lenses. It was quickly replaced by the sight of the actual rotorcycle as it approached in biospace. By now the crowd on the grassy hillside and the neighboring balconies were looking in the same direction.

“What’s the timeline?”

“They say they have enough gel to hold out 30 minutes, so… that.” Dust momentarily gusted around Ablation as Rez decelerated sharply, setting Pegasus down on the half court line as they cut the rotors. Ablation disabled away mode on their HUD and saw the flood of reacts from the crowd, along with an excited greeting emoji from Pegasus. Plus a warning from Ore that Ablation had better get back safe and finish business.

“You still know how to don a firesuit on the back of a bike?”

Ablation popped the cargo trunk, doffed their shoes and skirt, and stepped into the lower half of the firesuit. They threw their things in the trunk and swung a leg over Pegasus’ back seat. “That’s funny, Rez. Spin it.”

“Alright, Peg, you heard ’em: if they fall off they can’t blame us for flying too fast.” Pegasus gave a laugh react and a thumbs up and spun up her rotors. The park and its crowd dropped away fast, and Ablation’s vision filled with briefing text and the real time location of an airship steaming towards the plume of smoke rising from one section of the Santa Monica mountains. The rescue would be dangerous and uncertain. But then again, saving something always is. "___

Unfortunately you're operating too far above his level.

He noticed that a mean word rhymed. That's apparently where he's at now. I wish he'd hit rock bottom, this is just sad now.

I was wondering if this u/Dalimey100 was on Lemmy, and I think...

... I think they are.

u/Dalimey (who appropriately identifies as "LAWFUL STUPID" shared a warning from reddit admins issuing their final warning against making the sub NSFW (despite the fact that the users of the sub are in full support). They promised to reply to it with "roll for persuasion or intimidation" if they got 10k upvotes, and here is the result. Outstanding move.
