I like the attention to detail that they did Plato as a beefcake.

I don't think anyone is telling you that you have to find her attractive? It's more a complaint at those people who say that she's unrealistic as a love interest and that no-one could be attracted to her, which is simply hypocritical misogyny.

WRT the last paragraph, I've always liked James Joyce's love letters. Sex and body image has become far too sanitised in media in my view.

'Sarah' by Thin Lizzy is one example.

In the UK at least, 'you alright?', shortened to 'right?' is just used as a greeting. In the same way that 'how are you doing' got shortened to 'howdy'. It's just another form of greeting or pleasantry.

If you're actually interested how someone is, you'll ask without the contraction ('are you alright?'), and with a different intonation.

I think that's a fairly reasonable way of doing conversation; I don't have a problem with it.

America is not a secular nation lmao. The entire language of the Bush administration during the Iraq war was one of a 'holy war' -- they wanted it to be a new crusade.

The one positive aim he had in the Middle East, driven by religion, was achieving a state for Palestine and security for Israel, so he's at least 0 for 2

This is nothing new, either. For those that don't know, the FBI under Hoover worked to undermine protest movements, resorting to blackmail and political assassinations to meet their ends. This is verified and accepted fact; COINTELPRO documents were stolen by activists and released, and details psychological warfare carried out on MLK, to the point of encouraging him to commit suicide, the murder of Fred Hampton and other prominent members of the Black Panthers, and many, many other atrocities committed against so-called subversives.

Emily Maitliss did an excellent podcast for the BBC on Hoover (called 'The People Vs J Edgar Hoover') Not sure if it's available abroad, but well worth a listen.

Dairymaids who happen to be parents.
