People arguing a lot of legal stuff while I just think this was a dick move.

Too much rage bait, also after a time in here it's quite apparent how much the algorithm tries to push you to addiction.

I miss the niche communities tho.

So I moved out recently and discovered I pretty much only know how to prepare scrambled eggs and smoothies.

I've been trying to find cool cooking resources online, but most feel like are just either clickbait or advertising me a lot of garbage (that vibe reminds me of toxic fitness channels).

Any good resources you guys may know? It doesn't necessarily have to be YouTube channels, extra points if it has beginner level recipes, easily findable ingredients or it's funny to follow. Thanks! :)

Setting up boundaries.

I always thought it was the proportions that weren't healty. You get 50% bread, 50% meat, with a tiny slice of lettuce in the middle.

Hey guys, so I moved recently and started tipping my toes in self-hosting, currently managed to set up Pihole and Jellyfin.

I'm thinking of buying a TV to start enjoying all these cool services over my living room. The thing is, I'm pretty much an absolute beginner, and I'm not sure if there is something I should be aware of when buying a TV.

Since it is a fairly big spend, I would really hate to be locked out of it because of some greedy corporate garbage or something, especially since I would use it only for self-hosting, and I am aware TVs are particularly messy when it comes to this (never have bought one in my life). Could you guys help this lost kid?

Hey guys, greetings from Mexico. I've tried for a while to find a reliable source to pirate content in spanish.

I'm already pretty comfortable with consuming media in english, but if there is any way I could help strip my family from greedy corporations I would really like to try :)

And remember kids, if it is a command, you can automate it and never do it again.

Not one per se, but I love when a piece of open source software absolutely destroys it's competition. I'm not talking Firefox vs. Chrome or Unity vs. Godot debate (both are better, don't @ me), I'm talking when it's not even close, the open alternative is just industry standard.

VLC, Calibre, OBS and maybe Blender come to mind.

"It gets easier. Every day it gets a little easier but you gotta do it every day, that's the hard part, but it does get easier".

As far as I'm concerned, everyone owns themselves watching Bojack Horseman.

I could swear to God I never hit the 10 mark over there. In here as long as it isn't a "^this" I get 10-20, and solidly hit the 50 mark if I comment something truly meaningful.

I found this handy reference a while ago. But yeah, we are kinda screwed.

From time to time I got the need to trim intros/outros or silence from downloaded audio files.

I'm currently using Super Sound, but I find it a little silly that one of the last closed source, filled with ads app I still have installed is for such a small functionality.

On desktop I use ffmpeg for pretty much anything, so if there is some wrapper for it over android it would be ideal.

To me, it was the astounding amount of interactivity between the community.

At first I thought this was temporarily caused by the whole migration from the R site. But, just out of curiosity, I signed up to Mastodon and have enjoyed myself just as much as here.

Most of the Lemmy post's / Mastodon toots have almost as much or more comments / boosts than upvotes or favorites. It feels so organic and makes me realize how much these huge companies employ technics to pretty much force to interact the way they see fit.

It reminds me of that good old saying "you are not immune to propaganda", well I guess neither I nor anyone is immune to psychological tricks either.

P.S. I also love the fact that since there isn't pretty much any money involved, most opinions and interactions are genuine. Like, who is gonna pay this dude to advertise a book through BookWyrm? That increases immensely the odds that said person is being honest with their opinion of that book. It's amazing.

WE HAD A GOOD THING YOU STUPID SON OF A BITCH!

We had 3PA's, we had all the free labor in the world, just from passionate people who wanted to share the things they love, we had bots to fight spam, and extremely talented developers who made your stupid website work on mobile. It all ran like clockwork, if you could have just shut your mouth we'd all be fine right now.

But no, you just had to blow it up. YOU, AND YOUR GREED AND YOUR EGO.

Fuck u/spez
