TBH There should be more RSS feeds and more work around them (RSS readers are still good tho) so that news are delivered without paywalls and in a user friendly way

I fear when the world will start to ignore Palestine again

75

I have a huge dilemma, I need help.

I live in this house in the middle of nowhere with a few houses around. We all have several cats that roam freely and have enough space for them all to have their territory.

I have two males, both neutered, brothers. They mostly ignore each other as they fight a lot when they try to play.

Of course, sometimes they do fight, but nothing serious.

So, about 1 year ago, I had my office downstairs in a place that is physically separated from the rest of the house. Sometimes, especially late at night, this large neutered cat would come wandering around. She was EXTREMELY nervous and ready to snap (so we called her Crazy Eyes).

To cut a long story short, she gradually became more comfortable with me and started sleeping on or near me, letting me pet her (almost up to her belly!) and so on. However, she is still quite prone to snapping and for example, once I touched her belly without "permission" and she hissed and scratched my hand. She also usually hiss a bit when I try to push her back. She also hisses when I pet her and my cats come over. Of course I push her away in that case, because my cats have priority number 1.

Now I have been working upstairs at home for 5-6 months and she obviously cannot find me anymore. However, she still roams our garden. My cats, however, are EXTREMELY aggressive towards her (vocally). She does not usually start it, but both my cats agree that as soon as they see her they have to start growling and hissing at her.

She stands still, but several times my cats have put her in a corner and she is much stronger than both of them, so she usually attacks to get away. Yesterday, for the first time, one of my cats (the one in the picture) came back with a pretty serious cut on her head near her ear. There was blood and it was very visible, maybe 50 to 100 mm. Not too much blood. My cat is fine and does not seem to be in any pain. It has been two days and the cut seems to be healing on its own.

The problem is that when she sees me, she runs up to me and cuddles me, pressing her head and mouth against me. Sometimes she even tries to cuddle through the window (she sometimes stands outside).

I had to push her back several times, she doesn't understand. She feels very lost when she looks at me when I try to chase her away. And she still tries to cuddle. It breaks my heart to do this.

What do you think I should do?

no way. Coca-cola bankrupts tomorrow.

While I agree on this, I think Ungoogled Chromium could be a soft way to degoogle yourself while maybe looking for complete replacements. It took me almost 2 weeks to degoogle me almost totally, at the beginning having a minimum of compatibility is nice

I am gonna print them on some quality paper or just stick them into my desktop, do your best to show some technoanarchism!

Also thanks to whoever posted it, I would credit you but i forgot who you are

Noted. It was just a funny innocent thing tbh but I see, is a spicy topic in the lemmy community

(for the above one: this is a nice answer which keeps things polite and enjoyable)

Absolutely, for me is just a silly thing I will look just to remember all the things i posted. I agree competitiveness is the worst. To be honest: I feel that "circlejerking" thing also for upvotes/downvotes but i guess is personal

A serious law would be like (but in legalese):

  • By default you CANNOT use tracking cookies
  • If you want to use them you should have a Table that classify them based on how much fingerprint do they take
  • Then you have to explicitly ask the user in the most clear and unintrusive way possible if you can track them
  • And the consent should last 30 days max

I recently found this Firefox extension that looks safe (I checked some network activity but DOUBLE CHECK) and brings back Karma on Lemmy!

INB4: if you don't like karma on lemmy, you are in good company. There is no need to hate the ones that do like them.

Of course being unofficial it's just a cosmetic feature, so it hopefully can be a funny thing without going to be toxic like on Reddit.

How much karma do u have?

Absolutely yes. You can try GPT4ALL which works on any decent CPU computer (the minimum I managed to run it with is a 2018 6 core 2.0ghz ARM64 processor) and has a lot of built in models. You can also import uncensored models (like the TheBloke ones on Huggingface ).

I also tried AutoGPT some times ago which is quite complex and cool.

After enjoying a lot of FOSS posts, I wanted to share this little utility I made to give back to the community (and to improve it haha)!

INB4: This program is experimental and has bugs. Is mainly used by me and a couple of friends so any issue on github or here is more than welcomed. Also suggestion, etc.

Contributions are more than appreciated

From the readme

TransTerm is an highly experimental text based graphical user interface to act on YouTube videos.

Being text based, this program runs even in the terminal.

TLDR Listing features:

  • Download any youtube video at the highest resolution by default in mp4 format
  • Is able to automatically convert the downloaded video both in mp3 or wav format
  • Playlist support for the above features including automatically rename the files using the video title and the channel name
  • Playlists organization in folders with resume support (aka check if files are already there with the same title and channel)
  • Transcribe a ssingle downloaded video using either: • Google Audio to Text • Google Audio to Text + Silence detection • Sphynx CMU (processed offline locally)

TLDR Working on:

  • Some kind of progress check so that it does not look stuck (especially in playlists)
  • Better error management (if i find other errors or you guys do)
  • Maybe channel support, I don't know if ethically is ok

HUGE DISCLAIMER

This tool is ONLY for personal use and for permitted uses. I created this cause I needed a transcription tool and now I also use it to save playlists or songs offline for long trips. Don't do that if you can't.___

I am getting a blank page.

In the console:

Access to XMLHttpRequest at 'https://www.reddit.com/r/all/.json?limit=20' from origin 'https://rdx.overdevs.com' has been blocked by CORS policy: No 'Access-Control-Allow-Origin' header is present on the requested resource.

Tested with both ungoogled-chromium and firefox without cookies
