Oh man, I'm so excited! I really like that they're continuing to keep the fates of the people in the council hidden.

"The Arcane is waking up" is hype. I wonder what that means for the story of S2.

That's super cool. Thanks for sharing, somehow I was completely unaware of this

I see a few reasons:

  • Universal appeal
  • Sequel to a generally beloved animated movie that has gotten similar rave reviews.
  • Has a built in audience of kids combined with teenagers/young adults that were kids when the first movie was released.
  • A pretty slow year for movies before Inside Out 2 was released.
  • No real competition until Despicable Me 4 was released like a month later. And IMO Inside Out 2 is just a straight up significantly better movie.

I have also heard stories about schools and psychology institutes getting tickets for teachers/members because the films are seen as a good entry point for understanding children's emotions. But that was from randos online so I'm not sure how true that is.

Awesome article! Thanks for sharing it. I don't remember ever hearing about B.O.O before. To be honest I'm not super familiar with a lot of the 2010 DreamWorks stuff outside of the super big franchises so it was nice to learn a little more.

Super interesting. I think there was a lot of interest from young 20-somethings that really pushed this movie like crazy. Makes sense considering they were probably the perfect age for the original.

Also probably helps that there aren't a lot of well marketed "kids movies" this summer break for parents to take them to.

I still remember when the Red trailer for RWBY first dropped. Was such an awesome moment.

And yeah it was a real bummer that it was cancelled. I remember that Netflix initially renewed it, but then cancelled it a few months later. Super frustrating.

Those first few seasons especially were near perfect imo and I genuinely think it was one of the best comedy shows of all time. I dropped off around season 5 I think so I don't know if any of the recent seasons captured the magic of the original.

Also it's meme-ability was on point which is part of the reason it remains such a cultural juggernaut.

Thanks for cross-posting!

So basically, had a massive spike during the reddit blackout in July last year. Dropped down to half by November and has since shown fairly steady (if measured) growth. I think that's a good sign.
