I think that's been narrowed down to about 2 million years. But that got cut short by a mass extinction event, so it's hard to say how long they would have lasted otherwise.

There are no capital-G Gamers following Valorant.

Remember that video games are now the largest media industry in the world. Remember that gamergate happened almost 10 years ago now, and that Valorant is only 3 years old.

The kids playing and watching Valorant probably don't even know enough about the controversy to make the connection. They just know an asshole when they see one.

Honestly I don't even think capital-G Gamers play games anymore. It's an aging demographic that is too bitter and stupid to keep up.

Also what's the definition of "passing?" The dinos we are talking about are extinct, they didn't "pass" for long. A+ creatures things like alligators, ants, and crabs. On average a given species survives around a million years before going extinct. How long do you have to exist before you're considered a successful species?

If you're a skilled salaried worker the law doesn't really consider you to have work hours. Furthermore, you aren't required to be compensated for time you are on-call unless you are required to physically be present.

US labor laws are truly horrifying if you start asking yourself a few "what-ifs." The entire system is built on good faith.

Nobody's asking you to forgive her for what she's done, we're just saying that when your enemies are being raped and tortured, perhaps it would be good for you to say "hmm, can we achieve justice without all the rape and torture maybe?"

This brings up an interesting question. On the continuum between Circle With A Dot In It and Photorealistic Drawing Of A Breast, at what point does it become NSFW?

Excuse me but you are interrupting my dopamine flow. Your response appears to be neither a meme, rage bait, justice boner, nor even a pun. I hope you learn from this experience and do better.

I have definitely had some happy accidents, which only makes me wish even more for the ability to see what ANYONE in my party can say instead of just the accidental face.

Karlach is a surprisingly adept negotiator with her "I'LL CHOP OFF YOUR HEAD AND MAKE YOU TONGUE YOUR OWN ASSHOLE" style of persuasion.

Disclaimer that I am completely talking out of my ass and speculating, but I have a personal theory.

COVID has been around long enough to have two interesting effects.

  1. Almost everyone has gotten it by now. Some of us got it really bad, and/or acquired long-term secondary conditions. Some of this likely caused impaired cognitive function.
  2. Kids had their school schedules totally fucked up for years, and those kids are now the young teens on the internet. Young teens on the internet are already by default a disruptive demographic, but now add the effect of years of desocialization and missed education.

One of my favorite Redditisms was picking out incredibly obvious sarcasm with massive downvotes. Bonus points if replied to with a huge angry essay.

And due to the voting patterns, I learned to be suspicious of my own comments that were highly upvoted. I started to see it as a bad smell. My best work was the controversial stuff.

I was going to say Worf and Alexander but then I realized that it's really Worf becoming a dad that shows us the transformed Worf.

TNG in particular did a great job of stretching the characters by building them up to a definitive version and then showing us, in one way or another, a variant or situation that completely shatters that image. Data and Lore. Alternate Riker. Broken Picard. Troi and Lwaxana. Worf and also Worf but later.
