IIRC they called the bad guys the Separatists in that movie.

tracts

Of land?

[–] elephantium@lemmy.world 3 points 5 days ago

Oh, yeah, that does make sense. I'm not sure why my brain went up the garden path on that one.

Smear? What milk products are you thinking of? What came to my mind was cheese (which you could call metan tofu, I suppose...), but I would usually expect cheese to be sprinkled, not smeared.

One of my go to sites has a jump to recipe button....works on my computer but fails on my phone 😔

The recipes are good enough to put up with the inconvenience

Makes me think of sitcom tropes

Hard disagree. No books should ever be burned. Don't legitimize the practice.

OK, what's the best photo you've taken of your cat?

[–] elephantium@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago

Eh, I don't think it's an outright scam, rather "just" a bad investment / overhype. The language model programs do have some real uses, after all.

I fail to see how AI can replace any given entry-level SE

You don't "get it"?

AI is making senior software engineers more productive so they don’t need to hire more devs

Yes, I think you do.

I largely look at this as leadership using AI hype as an excuse to cut staff regardless of actual productivity. The house of cards hasn't come down quite yet.

As an example, if I go to the starting guide and click on the top comment, I get the following response:

"This site can’t be reached The webpage at https://lemmy.world/comment/97159 might be temporarily down or it may have moved permanently to a new web address. ERR_INVALID_RESPONSE"

Dev tools shows response code: 400 (from service worker) for this request.

I don't see this behavior on every single comment link, but it shows up for a lot of them, seemingly randomly.

I see it across different browsers and normal vs. incognito mode.

Any clues on what's broken?
