I think it's unique that we see more different sides and not just a US echo chamber that reddit was. However some communities of all spectrums have their idiots and communities that brigade stuff are very annoying. The idea that these communities exist is not the problem. I bought one too, I think for $75 pre-lauch. Very underwhelming interface... it's barely usable. I think they discontinued them already.

I use connectbot too and it is sub optimal but works for me... I only use it in emergencies. If I had any sort of regular use id want something else so following.
