snowballing you say?

[-] esty@lemmy.ca 5 points 1 year ago

yeah, but the Twitter migration problem is “everyone i follow is here and not there so why would i leave?” It’s not like lemmy or Reddit where the individual disappears behind the content

price hikes bad yes but first increase since they started, and it’s only $1? that’s not bad

[-] esty@lemmy.ca 6 points 1 year ago

Hell yes, incredible idea

God this is the fucking worst. Why would they ever make this decision? ~~aside from annoying dualbooters~~

I'm honestly shocked Adobe hasn't tried to capitalize on the people who pirate from them, considering they're the one company where the service is good and the cost is not

Do you know how much they'd take in if they had a yet cheaper tier for certain apps with a 'personal use only' clause or something? Probably a fuck ton if i had to guess

[-] esty@lemmy.ca 5 points 1 year ago

nope, so that's probably it

[-] esty@lemmy.ca 6 points 1 year ago

cool websites is a place for niche cool (sfw) websites that you're unlikely to find on a google search, sort of like a phone book of the internet

Prediction: ... As search engines become less and less useful, users who want [better quality content that’s curated out of SEO spam will share it with each other, creating a sort of link repository or aggregator for quality, human-verified content.] [https://tildes.net/~tech/1734/the_dead_internet_theory#comment-8xwr](paraphrased from OP)

so i thought it would be neat to make something like that, here, on lemmy - showcase the cool and niche things of the internet that you won't find with a search; something like I'm Feeling Lucky
