Our general ethos for LemmyNSFW is that with the implosion of reddit, it's inevitable that some adults are going to seek out adult content so making sure its done right is quite important. For the purpose of the growth of the lemmyverse and keeping the community safe, we see it as an opportunity to not only learn from reddits biggest mistakes and make a new community that focuses consent and keeps minors out, but also actually attempts to foster a safe and controlled environment that other federated NSFW communities haven't really been able to do so as they have almost always turned into a free for all. It's an uphill battle with the limits of lemmy, but we are working through it and doing the best we can and building tools for ourselves. There isn't a blueprint for this, we're learning as volunteers as time goes on.

When it comes to defederation, we truly don't have issues with instances that defederate with us. There's no hard feelings, no grudge, not even any ounce of negativity. We respect and honor that choice, and with the limits that lemmy has (especially right now) we understand why instances make that choice. And for the overall benefit and safety of the lemmyverse there needs to be instances that don't federate with us too. Especially in line with our focus on consent. Ideally, there will be native ways in lemmy to block our instance, restrict our content in all for instances, and the implementations of more detailed content warnings.

I will say that I personally use a different instance for SFW stuff, and I can say that I absolutely adore the people at aussie.zone, sopuli.xyz & feddit.de. The admins and communities at each of those instances are filled to the brim with absolute sweethearts and I have nothing but love and kindness towards them. It makes me sad when people feel there is some weird beef we have with the instances that have us defederated (especially those!), and I hope those instances know we don't, we fully understand why they do, and we will never push them to refederate with us unless they inquire to us explicitly about thinking about doing so.

Same as above, if we were simply defederated there would have been no hard feelings, it was everything else that was an issue.

So, it should be noted it will be consensual noncon with very specific strict modding communication and moderator community rules and procedures, not true "noncon."

We won't be allowing real non consensual content, ever. Things like kink related consensual noncon is what is being referred to here. We will be extra strict in making sure it is actually consensual noncon and is verifiably only done in a kink context. But it will only be for those who search it out, will be closely moderated and will not federate into c/all.

Consensual noncon even when verifiable as consensual is a tricky subject, as although for some it is a consensual kink, for others it can be a potential trigger due to trauma. We want to make it so people won't accidentally stumble upon that content unless they explicitly search for it.

I hope that clarifies things. If you still don't want anything to do us with us, I understand but hopefully that makes it clear we aren't down with like.. creepshots and stuff.

So, we allow people to talk about and tell others to go to burgitt.moe but we do so with an asterisk and when we see people post about it we really try to make an effort to warn others about what they might be getting into. We aren't deleting the posts talking about it, because overall if people want to go that their choice and thats the nature of the fediverse.

The issue with burgitt isn't exclusively the loli/shotacon thing. Yeah, it's a big factor but there's a lot more to it for both our team and many other instances. They explicitly are trying to replicate reddits openness that led to the r/jailbait scandal, and there needs to be reasonable limits on social media sites for very clear legal reasons. Lemmy is limited in more ways than reddit is (and was even then) right now, and to host NSFW content of any kind you kind of need to jerry rig shit together to make it somewhat functioning and be able to address issues. There's limited confidence they will be able to properly report, address, and handle suspected illegal content on their servers due to their hands off management. Maybe they have procedure, I don't know and can't say. Another thing with that is that they explicitly ignore DMCA requests, which is also extremely legally problematic for federated content hosts.

On top of all that, their site is hosted in the Netherlands. A place currently being circled by Interpol for hosting a large portion of CSAM online. The EU is specifically building ways to crack down on websites that host any legally problematic content in the Netherlands purely due to the sheer mass right now. Beyond that, they may not be American but their refusal to follow DMCA also presents a risk of being raided by Interpol as well. There's a legal misconception that the Netherlands is a safe offshore host for ignoring DMCAs, and that just isn't true. They are a part of the EU, and actively cooperate with American authorities because they legally are required to. Specific companies do not fuck around when it comes to DMCA.

All of that leads to the Interpol risk, and what that means. If they seize the site, they would try to read the database and almost certainly attempt to scan thru it. And authorities seizing fediverse based websites isn't even a new thing either, there was a Mastodon instance that was raided a few months ago with the database being analyzed by authorities and it has been up without any info of that raid serving as a honeypot collecting user information. That's a risk you are putting yourself up to.

If spam crossposting becomes an issue, we will address it. The reports we are referring to here are mainly against people who are daring to just post links in the body or comments to their OF. It's not mass crossposting.

I think it's fair for people to be upset when there's spam on the site. But, we've so far had issues with only actual spam but not really any true spam from OF models. It seems so far that content creators have been extra careful on that end. Like, as long as the links are in the body or comments in most communities it is more than fine and thats generally whats been going on currently as far I can see. Sex workers need to make money too and getting instant mass reports on OF models for daring to want to make money off their content they are graciously providing to us for free as a community is downright absurd and deeply annoying to have to sift thru. I can get outright exhibitionist communities, but those need to be clear about such imo.

Honestly whether people want to admit it or not, we need content creators for this community to thrive and grow. If it becomes any issue in the future then a conversation will be had, but there really isn't any issue at the moment.

Thank you bringing it up! We will clarify in the final version, but yeah. Our desire is hopefully to have reporting procedures in the same way reddit does, kind of like "report to community" and "report to site staff"
