Shout outs to Voyager developer and paraglider @aeharding@lemmy.world ! I wonder if he knows any other stylish freeflying-types.
Wandi Wang from Chongqing, China gave up her career in newscasting to paraglide full time and posting on YouTube and Instagram. This video of her dressed up as a witch is getting ripped off relentlessly, but I tracked down the source so flyhellodidi can get the exposure she deserves. Keep on finding pathways to the sky!
My partner actually told me about this last week, but recent events here in the US have taken my energy away and I just watched this today. I'm catching up, though!
In 2014, photographer Melvin Sokolsky returned to his iconic Bubble series from 50 years before, but this time with Jennifer Aniston in the bubble.
Could we make a vacuum balloon of out this acrylic bubble? If it's sealed airtight, it might be strong enough to contain a vacuum without imploding, thus making it several pounds lighter than when it has air inside. Make stable acrylic vacuum bubbles big enough, and they'll float like balloons. We were so close to this future once...
Honestly, my favorite part of running a community is when a new face joins and posts something they like. It doesn't matter if their posts don't look like mine. Other people's posts make me feel like I'm not just posting into the void.
Megaupload. It was like the Library of Alexandria burning down. Not just pirated stuff, either.
Weighing in at 4.0MB, I present to you the SNES roguelike Mystery Dungeon 2: Shiren the Wanderer (or Fushigi no Dungeon 2: Fuurai no Shiren).
The original console "RPG you can play 1000 times". It's tough but fair. It stops just short of permadeath; dying sends you back to the start at level 1 with nothing, but you keep your side quest progress and any gear you had the foresight to send back to town before you died. Watch someone stream this sometime. It's turn-based, but the tension is like nothing else I've ever played.
Fascists should be afraid to show their faces in public, but this particular fascist needs to live long enough to spend time in prison.
Apparently people died there today. That's probably bad. Don't just assume the dead were worthless fascists. I hope it wasn't some innocent media person covering the event for their local news or something.
The Republicans in state legislature asked us to vote to give up our right to vote on things. All they accomplished was making us more angry at them.
Source is George Takei on Mastodon, and there's a lot of discussion there too. I didn't know Spock Hand Emoji 🖖🏽 was a thing, but here it is.
You're right, and Snopes confirms what you're saying. They only ever appear to be standing next to each other in this one photo, ever. There's no evidence that they even greeted each other. I'm all for dragging both of them through the mud for the stuff they've done, but there's no need to make up a story that they did anything together.
My loyal airheads, I must report that we no longer have the most threads of any Mbin magazine. The strongest lifting gas !hydrogen@fedia.io has overtaken us. I've sent them a post congratulating them, but they might not take it well. In a few weeks, I'm probably doing that for !Greece@fedia.io too.
In the era of the first powered airships, hydrogen was generated by pouring lots and lots of sulfuric acid over lots and lots of iron filings. While hydrogen production is far safer now, hydrogen is currently banned as a lifting gas in the US. With the correct precautions, I think we're due for a hydrogen renaissance. I'd rather save the helium for MRI machines, honestly.
