Welcome to the real world.

Look, I come from fighting games and not racing games, so this actually looks OK to me. The goal is to win the race by hook or crook, and you are expected to use every means at your disposal to win. It's dirty play, but it isn't against the rules, and you should expect all of your serious opponents to ram you in this situation.

It's like snaking in Mario Kart DS. It's a weird counter-intuitive mechanic that makes you go faster by powersliding constantly, even on straightaways. If you're playing without snaking, you're not really playing Mario Kart DS.

Hey guys! Hey guys! I just got back from my local fighting game group in 2009 and there's this game I've got to show you.

DragonBlast is a pretty solid 2D indie fighting game with 3D models. Usually, the characters are muscular furries. Well, in this video, there's a joke version called Nico Nico Fighters (ニコニコファイターズ) where all the characters are 2000s-era Japanese internet memes! I'd kill for someone to leak that build to the Internet so I can play it.

Hey guys? Guys! Oh...they left me again.

Spread is brokenly good, but I like playing with Laser too. It feels good to land the entire beam on a boss. Especially in the arcade version, laser kills bosses fast.

Catbox is working fine for me. Below, there should be a video of Scott Kelly in a gorilla suit on the ISS.

Whoa... !FloatingIsFun@fedia.io looks really good in PieFed's tile views! It's kind of what I was going for with my CSS. I think PieFed has a ton of potential, and I want to mess around with it more.

@Jerry@hear-me.social, if you just saw a spike of like 1GB of data getting federated in, that was me manually retrieving my first few hundred posts.

Edit: Oops, I tagged the wrong instance admin named Jerry!

I've only actually played the first game, but as I understand it, NiGHTS is a high-ranking Nightmaren just like the monstrous bosses they fight. NiGHTS happens to be powerful enough to be independent. Whenever the other Nightmaren mug a dreaming visitor, if the visitor keeps hold of one of their Ideyas, NiGHTS finds it more fun to help the visitor wreck everything instead.

Edit: corrected NiGHTS to they/them pronouns (and while I'm here, you can still get the Steam version of NiGHTS for free)

Entertainment-per-byte is an interesting problem. My solutions were tiny but highly replayable games. It's been fun to see other people's ideas, like writing things in Emacs.

Alright then, how about this?

For just 32kB (plus the size of a Game Boy emulator), you can play the amazing Tetris Rosy Retrospection. It's a romhack of the Game Boy Tetris that adds modern Tetris controls, handling, and features to make it feel much better to play without increasing the file size. I'm aware of the color version of this hack, but it doubles the file size to 64kB, so I'm only considering the regular Tetris Rosy Retrospection this time. Byte-for-byte, I can't find a better game to sink dozens of hours into.

And now for something completely different. During monsoon season, this valley in western India has winds so strong that clouds get sucked into it and directed straight up this cliff. You can throw all kinds of stuff off this cliff and the updraft will return them to you. It's similar to the reverse waterfall that made the rounds on the internet years ago. Just please don't climb over the safety barrier to get closer to it. It's still a cliff.

Chocolatey, a command line driven package installer for Windows that works like apt-get for Linux. Replaces thousands of bloated installers with simple commands. My first step with an updated Windows install is to install Chocolatey, open command prompt, and do something like choco install firefox notepadplusplus gimp zoom windirstat winrar to install them all silently.

I'm a Reddit refugee and I've been moving all the pictures and videos from my old niche subreddit to my new niche Kbin magazine. I'm afraid Reddit will collapse, and the collection of floaty things I've been building up will become lost media if it's not reposted somewhere else. I like the Fediverse's mission and I want to see how the Fediverse develops. Also, I want to have a complete and functional artsy magazine on Kbin to show the others back on Reddit that it can be done well.

For the past couple days, some of my posts have been making Fedia's home page and apparently other instances' home pages too. It's good to be seen, but I'm afraid I'm getting more attention than I actually deserve. I like seeing art of fantasy worlds and interactions, and I'm not alone in that. But, I'm afraid I'm corrupting your feeds with stuff you aren't looking for, just because I'm doing it first.
