Car rental - I'm 95% sure I don't need any of those extra insurances but due to pressure and fear tactics (you do want to be covered if x happens, right?), it's hard to know in the moment.

Normally this would fall under rule #3 as we agreed that helping people find communities isn't what Asklemmy should be about. Considering that I just removed a post asking for help for this Gofundme, I can't bring myself to remove this question too.

I hope you can get your cat the help they need.

Tags don't exist in Lemmy, so it's not something we can add to the community. How about adding [joke] or [non-serious answers only]?

[-] hsl@wayfarershaven.eu 21 points 1 year ago

This sounds like a support question on how you can change the contents of your feed. Please check the sidebar for suggestions on where you can find support. Removing per rule #3.

Much appreciated! It's nice to have a clean, relevant community.

If you're ever curious about mods' impact, take a look at the modlog in the sidebar. I'd link it here but it is instance-specific.

It's not exactly an open-ended question but you seem to be having fun with it. Leaving the post up.

Obsidian - fantastic Markdown editor with rich base functionality and a huge garden of plugins.

I read the comic a few years back and loved it. When I heard Netflix had picked it up, I crossed my fingers so hard. I've forgotten where I saw the comment, but it was something along the lines that the movie is a polished, cleaned up version. I can't agree more - what a fun, moving, gorgeous treat!

Have you read the comic or seen the movie? What did you think?

I added a search option to a community's sidebar - this will be helpful to find past answers but also to check and see if someone has already asked that question recently.

For example, here are the latest posts on password managers: https://lemmy.ml/search?q=password&type=Posts&listingType=All&communityId=8&page=1&sort=TopAll

I've set it to search through Lemmy.ml - this has the pro that it will be able to find all content because it's a local community. It has the con that most people won't be able to interact directly with the content as they are not subscribed via their own instance.

I was hoping to use a relative search URL and search through the user's instance. This won't work as each instance numbers the communities differently: the communityId on Lemmy.ml is different than on my own instance.

Is this helpful for anyone? Do you have any suggestions on how to improve it further?

Requesting /c/fantasy (wayfarershaven.eu)
submitted 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) by hsl@wayfarershaven.eu to c/community_requests@lemmy.ml

I'd like to be set as a mod for !fantasy@lemmy.ml, please. The current mod hasn't had any activity in the past three years and we'd like to add a banner, icon, etc.

I checked in with the community and have only had positive reactions: https://lemmy.ml/post/1919428

This community's subject area also isn't the best fit for Lemmy.ml. I'd be happy to move it to a more suitable instance if and when that option becomes available.

Mods for community? [solved] (wayfarershaven.eu)
submitted 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) by hsl@wayfarershaven.eu to c/fantasy@lemmy.ml

I realized that the mod for this community is @ht_@lemmy.ml - they created the community three years ago but don't seem to have had any activity since. @ht_@lemmy.ml, are you around?

Barring a response, I'd like to see this community have at least one and preferably a few active mods. It doesn't really need much most of the time but it would be nice to take care of our own duplicate posts and have a small team in place in case anything arises. It would also be nice to have a community icon and banner.

I'm happy to take this on - I already mod !fountainpens@wayfarershaven.eu and !asklemmy@lemmy.ml, two very different communities - feel free to take a look at the mod logs for an idea of how I do things. !fountainpens@wayfarershaven.eu would be the better comparison because I don't really need to do much there. At the end of the day, I'd like to see the community well supported.

Does anyone have any concerns with me reaching out to the admins for this? And would anyone else want to be a mod?

I dislike being locked in to an ecosystem, no matter how pretty it is.

I recently started using a tablet and pen (Wacom Intuos S if you're curious) for work and I cannot keep track of the pen - it's slim, black, and blends in with my desk. I know that this is the fountain pen community rather than an ergonomics community, but I bet you all have tips for a pen stand/holder. What do you use to keep your pen(s) close at hand?

I love that Diamine works together with the community to create new inks.

These have been out for a few months - have you had a chance to try them out? What did you think?

Note: linked to a different Youtube front-end to avoid the Youtube interface. The video is rather incidental to the post and meant to show off the inks if you haven't yet seen them.

We can upload images directly to Lemmy but that does increase the load on the instances. What other services do you recommend? Do you have a go to?

I've finally started Rosemary and Rue, the first October Daye book. So far, fascinating world building.

[-] hsl@wayfarershaven.eu 26 points 1 year ago

Yes, this is in the instance's admin settings - it's a single checkbox.

With that said, this question is related to support and belongs over in !lemmy_support@lemmy.ml

You can find us at:

I know that we have a few other digital nomad communities around but none of them seem to have taken off. Given that wayfarershaven.eu is also home to communities like !heronebag@wayfarershaven.eu and !solotravel@wayfarershaven.eu, I'm hoping to build the digital nomad community here on Lemmy.

I was looking into something completely different and came across these solo tours. I figured maybe they arranged it and you could do it at your own speed. But no -- this is for single travelers who want to join a group.

Is this a new twist on solo travel?

I really enjoyed /r/lowsodiumsimmers so have created !lowsodiumsimmers@wayfarershaven.eu. Share what makes you happy about the Sims, without the added salt.

I wouldn't trust either of them with my passwords.
