"Whether you agree with this logic is irrelevant; this is the reasoning manufacturers use for restricting aftermarket parts and labour."

Isn't this this the point of this community? To say we don't agree with this reasoning, whether locking people out of repairs is a good business model or not, it's one that some people don't agree with.

They chose not to after researching options. Pretty sure they decides account portability was a key feature needed and AP doesn''t do this. As in taking your account and all your posts and data witj you to a new server. I assume there is a technical reason why this would be very difficult to add to AP/Mastodon otherwise they could have just added it themselves.

How does someone inflate their knees?

I'm guessing the joke here is that due to iPhones having text and icons in the same places on many screens this leads to more cases of Screen Burn-in. The image shows an iPhone displaying a white image that then highlights this fault with the phone and the title makes a joke comparing these always visible marks on the screen to the 'always-on' feature where the screen displays information even when the screen is 'off'.

I'm interested in a framework laptop for the environmental perspective, but I also think a pre-owned high end device would be faster and with smaller impact.

Postmarketos boots on fp5 but lots if things are not yet working. I think, the main contributor is a Fairphone employee https://wiki.postmarketos.org/wiki/Fairphone_5_(fairphone-fp5) I can't find LineageOS development progress, but Murena look like they will be selling the fp5 with e/os which is customised LineageOS, so its probably making progress.

These things crave attention. It will be loving getting this social media clout. I heard the most tortuous thing you can do to these monsters is put it outside and forget about it. They HATE the silent treatment.

Contributing to OpenStreetMap. I try to bring it up because it would be great to get more contributors to the project, but either I have to explain "It's Wikipedia, but a map" or they come out with misunderstandings about the project that aren't worth correcting. E.g not liking the icons used to display points on the map.

My understanding would be that the case only covers whether they broke Fair Use when they created the National Emergency Library (when they started lending out multiple digital copies of one physical book). Although the case going not in their favour would help future case against the one book-one loan policy they currently use. I'd guess as the Internet Archive are US based that any ruling would affect international users the same as US users.

The PineNote won't be in stock until the community of developers figure out a proper Linux based OS for it. I dig through the forums occasionally and they are making progress, but it won't be soon.

I own an Onyx Boox Air, but sadly can't recommend it as Onyx refuse to comply with the Linux kernel license and don't publish their changes. Not only is this a dick move it means custom ROMs and hacking is not likely to happen.

Is it an unavoidable situation that projects that are run by passionate individuals will burn those people out? Or is their more projects can do to ask those that contribute the most to slow down and not put the work before themselves?
