Agreed. Also we all have our eyes on so much these days (we see ALL the news from everywhere) there is no way that doesn't affect people. Plus here in the US, the divide between rich and poor grows. The stress of seemingly innocuous every day life has it's toll and I don't think a lot of people recognize that in them selves yet.

I totally agree, mental health for everyone even for people who are healthy!

Click the hamburger icon in the upper left (talking as if you are in mobile web) Go to communities. The page always lists your local communities first, click all.

In the search box put the full address. It looks like, [!name@domain.tld](/c/name@domain.tld). For example, [!cats@lemmy.world](/c/cats@lemmy.world)

Hit search and wait patiently for up to 15 seconds. Important.

You will see the community show up (unless it's blocked) and you click the link it shows you.

Click on the + for their Sidebar. Click Subscribe

It's not that bad though, lemmy is worse but at least with relays misskey and Mastadon etc are easier to aggregate a starting list of content

Good question. Right now it just says 0... With my all but 2 users. The great thing about where I got my servers is you can choose one of two options 100mbps unlimited (which I use) or 1gps for the first 4tb and then throttled to 10mbps.

So far I see very little impact

Yeah I have a lot of people that I follow that provide me news, cool tech, black history, furry fun times, art, and just sillyness. Maybe the tags aren't what OP wants, but the idea is that they should then search tags that they DO want regardless if "popular"

Actually, keepass warning you is a feature. When I first set up my account I put in the strongest password keepass would let. Lemmy approved it. But I soon learned later that lemmy cut the password short and didn't tell me. (I learned using the API)

So no bug except lemmy not yelling the user itself. Or maybe that was when I first set up my instance... I forget... I've got the memory of a frog

I went through a whole stint of crocheting dolls for friends for xmas. I needed a break! I think when it cools down I'll get back into it!

[resolved]

To all who come here with the same issue, I am op posting from my new instance.

  • lemmy instances are not automatically connected
  • at least one user must be following a community for others to search it
  • to add your first community hosted by another instance, search for the full address in your lemmy search example: [!cats@lemmy.blahaj.zone](/c/cats@lemmy.blahaj.zone) after clicking search, wait 5-10 seconds and it will pull up
  • click on the link and subscribe. Now when another user, uses your instance they can find that community!
  • ok... Now you have 1 extra community... What about the thousands that exist?! Read through the comments. Someone provided a tool to basically create a bot account to add servers. I took this idea and created one as well (not sharing it's terrible) but it went through all of my approved instances and all of the communities and subscribed to all. I now have 2300+ communities.
