The issue fixes after the restart command but when I reboot it cimes back.

'ls -lh /etc/resolv*' spits out:

lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 37 Mar 11 16:48 /etc/resolv.conf -> /run/systemd/resolve/stub-resolv.conf

Yeah I am positive I am running systemd

[–] ludicolo@lemmy.ml 1 points 3 months ago

I can ping 1.1.1.1 and localhost but pinging google.com comes up with "temporary failure in name resolution"

I was able to get internet working by running the cimmand suggested by badlotus (I had already deleted the file they told me to the first time and then run the cimmand. So i didn't delete it again because it was gone.) When I run that command my internet cimes back. However if I restart the issue comes back.

[–] ludicolo@lemmy.ml 1 points 3 months ago

None of those config files exist in that folder location.

So I was able to get it working again by doing this solution that badlotus suggested. I did not delete the file because it was already gone after the first timw I attempted this. If I reboot my device however the issue comes back. If I run the command again my internet is back.

Badlotus' solution:

"Have you tried deleting /etc/systemd/resolved.conf and restarting the service with systemctl restart systemd-resolved?"

[–] ludicolo@lemmy.ml 1 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Ok wtf. I retried this solution and it worked for some reason. I have no idea what happened differently. I didn't delete the file because it was already gone.

However if I restart it breaks again.

I no longer have tailscale installed. i uninstalled it thinking that would fix it. I cannot reinstall it now because I can't cinnect to the internet.

I still am getting somw data transfer it looms like. I can see my upload and down load speed fluctuating. It just shows a yellow triangle by my ethernet icon and says "limited connection".

[–] ludicolo@lemmy.ml 1 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago) (7 children)

I did and thay did not change anything.

As of right now I have tailscale uninstalled so I will reinstall it and try the values again.

EDIT: lol I forgot I do not have internet I cannot reinstall tailscale

EDIT 2: Pinging 1.1.1.1 works

[–] ludicolo@lemmy.ml 1 points 3 months ago (2 children)

That did not work, I deleted the file and then I restarted the service. I then restarted the pc just to make sure. Still no internet access and still same limited connectivity error.

[–] ludicolo@lemmy.ml 1 points 3 months ago (1 children)

No I did not edit this at all. Bkth were set to the value '2'

I changed them both to 0 and 1 and it did not fix my issue 🫤

I am trying to get coturn working on my vps provider (I am using digital ocean) for matrix rtc.

I cannot seem to get matrix dendrite to connect to it. I think I have landed on the issue being dns records in cloudflare but I am unsure. Recently I switched to cloudflare and have been using tunnels (which I use for matrix)

Matrix dendrite works fine besides rtc when I uncomment the lines for the turn server but then doesn't function at all when they are there.

I am using ubuntu with docker for matrix dendrite and I am using a debian vps with digital ocean for the coturn server.

Any help is appreciated!

EDIT: Lemmy you beautiful community you!!! Solved yet another issue of mine!

Hello everyone!

After much pain and agony I was able to setup my matrix server! Huzzah!

Until I went to sign in with element x :(

It says my server does not have sliding sync support. I have tried looking at the official documentation and trying to getbit working but to no avail. I went thrught the only limited tutorial provided by the actual matrix channel. Still no success.

I was able to install shildichat and that works just fine! Same with the element desktop client.

Do I need to completely restart my matrix installation to get this working? Is there an easy way to get it working now that my mattix-synapse server is already setup?

For context I followed this exact tutorial (though instead of nginx proxy manager I used cloudflare tunnel)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TFDFR6EBG3k

In the video it says nothing about sliding sync but when you go to his wiki site the matrix config has been updated with an empty sliding scale patameter.

Any help would be appreciated!

EDIT:

I am using ubuntu 20.04 deploying my matrix server through docker. I am using the latest build of dendrite matrix-synapse

Dendrite monolith matrix github:

https://github.com/matrix-org/dendrite/blob/main/build/docker/README.md

This is the documentation I followed:

https://wiki.opensourceisawesome.com/books/setup-matrix-chat/page/install-matrix-using-the-dendrite-server

EDIT 2:

please forgive my idiocy. What I wanted was element the app not element x. Unless there is a problem wjth me running matrix without this supposed sliding sync, my issue is solved lol. I will take the advice to implement it if necessary.

Hello friends! I am back with another issue.

Recently I have taken on the task to get non steam games working on Proton. I have noticed that the performance is significantly worse with them on Linux then on Windows. More frequent stutterings and such. 100 fps consistently on Windows vs linux which it dips below 50 fps. Other "better performing" non-steam games get consistent micro stutters. I am using native steam because the flathub version because after installing dependencies with protontricks the game still would not launch.

The only possible thing I can think of is the games are on NTFS partition (yet steam regular games installed on it run just dandy). I dualboot with windows and access this particular drive between both os'. I am at a complete loss, any help would be appreciated oh Linux brotheren and sisteren.

Thank you!

(also the games drop audio consistently as well sometimes it wont come back unless I alt tab and come back to the game.)

EDIT: Hello everyone! thank you again for the help I think I have come to the conclusion that some of you suggested already. Wayland seems to be having the game perform significantly better than x11 but it still isnt quite up to par as windows. When I had tried it before I thought to myself "yeah this is better but it isn't up to par with my windows partition" so I kept searching for an answer. the conclusion I have come to is, I think this just comes down to the particular game being unoptimized. Thank you all for your suggestions! You all are truly moving mountains when helping people swap to this wonderful operating system. Hopefully one day I can get rid of my windows partition fully. (too bad I am a VR dweeb that needs windows for some applications to function 😭).

so I recently dualbooted arch and windows. I have noticed the longer I play game the more the fps drops.

Deadlock for example, I will be getting 110-120 fps then as the match goes on (usually at the 20-40 min mark) it gradually drops to 50fps (I don't know if it will keep going, that is just the lowest I have been able to see it drop)

the outlast trials also gets pretty bad micro stutters.

I have tried reinstalling drivers removing two sticks of ram that seem to be faulty, and reinstalling arch completely with archinstall just to see if I flubbed something up around manual install, I tried the nvidia-open drivers (the ones released by nvidia) and the proprietary drivers. Nothing seems to be working.

When I launch into windows games stay at pretty consistant framerates.

specs:

rtx 3070 ryzen 7 3700x 16gb ram 1tb ssd 2tb ssd 1440p 144hz monitor

Any help is very much appreciated!!

(off topic question but I figured I would ask here as to not create another post. I cannot for the life of me get wayland kde to work properly. It efuses to let me change the resolution and refresh rate. the solution I seem to be finding is that wayland doesnt play nice with nvidia. So I have just been using x11. is this assesment incorrect?)

I have been trying to set this up for the past 2 days and I am losing my mind.

The issue I seem to be having is that synapse cannot find the necessary postgres information in the the database. I have been trying to setup a docker container for it but to no avail. The container just continues to restart. When I check docker logs it seems like it cannot find the database info it needs but its there. I deleted the sqlite3 info so it most certainly isn't still using that.

Is there possibly a casaos friendly version of matrix? Is there an easy to follow tutorial for docker matrix and duckdns? Any help would be appreciated.
