Of course, breaking changes are expected while development is on 0.X. But does that mean you would or should install updates known to have breaking changes on a system which is used by other people without notifying them (in advance)?
... quest-like achievement-structure.
With the worst being task collections which have to be completed in order, e. g. Frode's Journal which even forces you to do/repeat the 3 SotO metas in a specific order or it doesn't count,
W T F !
Yep, I'm probably one of those fans. Though I also very much like the team-play aspect that usually comes with (instanced) group content. What I would like are random encounters you'd find in open world (possibly instanced) which would ~~require~~ encourage people to spontaneously group up as a team of max. 5 to beat it.
Similar to Dungeoneering in RuneScape, but with occurances/entrances randomly spread out over the open world, using your current gear scaled to the level of the encounter, difficulty/rewards scaled to the number of people in the group and the overall theme based on the current zone.
I like this/your illustration with colors indicating the expansion releases:
It's very interesting to also look at the quarter after each expansion release which I would read as follows:
- HoT was hyped very much, but wasn't very well received. Many players probably found it too hard (before HoT difficulty nerfs and power creep from later expansions) and told their friends about it.
- PoF wasn't hyped very much, but was very well received. People loved their mounts and spread the word.
- EoD+Steam was ... I don't know.
Feast of Delectable Birthday Cake bugged since today's update?
- When i use Feast of Delectable Birthday Cake and eat it, it won't reset my buff time to 30 mins. This happens since today's update. I assume this is a bug
- Same here. Even the Malnourished effect can't be overwritten with the Birthday Cake
Feast of Delectable Birthday Cake (GW2Wiki - 2021-08-24)
Bug: Unlike the Birthday Blaster, the feast's effect is unable to override either itself or the Malnourished effect, only allowing reapplication every 35 minutes.
Warning. The Legendary Start Kit - Set 2 is bugged at the moment. See my PSA post.

We wanted to drive players to older content, as our game is heavily focused on horizontal progression, while ensuring players had reasons to go to the same places across the breadth of the game world and have other players to play with. This is all driven by a desire to increase player engagement through regular logins and longer play sessions through a system with a low barrier to entry. Increased engagement drives retention and MTX KPIs.
across the breadth of the game world or the same boring set of tasks over and over gain?
Also note the blatant use of the term drive players instead of something like encourage players, interest players or attract players.
๐ That should give you something to think about. Right? PONDER! ๐
Bug Fix:
- Fixed an issue that would have caused the current Guild Wars 2: Secrets of the Obscure Wizard's Vault season to end earlier than intended.
... and ArcDPS has already been updated.
We probably should have known ... that Gyla Delve wasn't an exception but the new normal. I now wish GW2 could have gone gracefully into Maintenance Mode during Icebrood Saga instead of becoming a Walking Dead Parody.
Path of Fire (โฌ29.99) which included Living World Season 4 and Icebrood Saga (if you logged in once in a while) was the last full expansion we got. Now compare this to Secrets of the Obscure (โฌ24.99).
Though I don't think that greed is the main reason why we are getting a lot less bang (content) for the buck today compared to back then. My impression is that the code base has become so fragile that every little change has a high chance of breaking a thousand other things, which makes development (and the cleanup afterwards) very, very expensive.
I was gliding forward, too. ๐
๐ That's exactly what I was thinking, too.
