Yes, sometimes.

I basically move and transform data.

Given you are using niche forum software. Yes, most likely.

These rumors/stories, whatever you want to call them, is all new to me, but its just a way to dehumanize a certain group and therefore helping to justify labelling them the new boogieman.

ELI5 Its a way to make a group of people appear less human and different from yourself. This makes it easier to not relate to them and use them as a bad/ evil example of something you want to avoid.

Its due to compression of the video in order to fit on a MMS message, which is very small. Android uses RCS as a new message standard that can send bigger files but Apple has yet to add it to their OS. Its similar to how Apple uses iMessage to do the same, however this is not a standard and is locked to only apple devices.

Apple is supposedly adding support for RCS during the new iOS update but until then you can use a different messaging app to send better/larger files.

I recommend Signal as it is easy to sign up and start using while also being private.

Not sure is this is the best place to post this question, but wondering what is the best way to encrypt a usb drive?

Want to be able to carry an encrypted flash drive with me but also be able to unlock it, if possible, on various OSes. Preferably with some kind of portable software. Something similar to the method that comes with the Kingston Data Traveler USB drives.

Edit: Seems like Veracrypt and Cryptomator are the best options to check out. Thank everyone!

Signal is probably the simplest to get started with.

There is also element/matrix for more of a discord type feel.

SimpleX if you want something more anonymous.

[-] ninjaturtle@lemmy.today 22 points 3 weeks ago

Isn't matrix more like slack that you are looking for?

Straight chilled water.

If I need extra hydration aka eletrolytes, I either put pure electrolytes in it or a flavored powder like Liquid IV.

Check out LocalSend. App that let you send things over local WiFi. No server required.

Mostly their marketing practices. They are designed well but mostly designed to keep you locked in one way or another.

For me, their desktop is not as intuitive as people make it seem and lacks simple shortcuts that most other desktops have.

On mobile, its the restriction of customization and options. They are getting better at customizing but still limit you on options for anything outside of their apps. They claim to be private but follow similar practices as other companies, just in a more quite way with better PR.

Ignore or if you must reach out some way, then through the work email keeping it professional.

AI doesn't automatically equal not private. Its probably still has private as it was before.

Now if it starts showing it knows things about you, then I'll be concerned.

By A.I. are you mostly talking about the chat bot kind like ChatGPT? Because A.I. is a pretty vast field with many benefits.
