I wouldn’t call central planning “Marxist”, it’s just better for many things. And Marxism is about trying to find the best solutions scientifically to the issue of capitalism. Namely a revolution and a restructuring of society by the workers “in their image”. And practice of attempting that and building that new society brought new innovations and ideas.

Also, the end goal for Marxists, like for all communists, is and should be a “stateless, moneyless, classless society”. Not in any “words mean different things” way. In a “there is no more class divisions, no more commodity production and capital, and no more state or hierarchical authority. Like anarchists want as well.

That is incredibly naive. Just look at history. Fascists were always defeated by violent resistance. And nothing else.

Those who claimed to fight them peacefully all shut up right when they got into power and only quietly showed their discontent behind closed doors, while they kept on living under the fascists. Many even came to support the fascists after it wasn’t so uncouth to do so…

The people who were afraid of doing anything real at first, but certainly opposed fascism with their core, rose up and took arms against them when it became too much. Those were the partisans and their civilian allies in the cities and villages. And thousands and thousands died fighting the fascists alongside the Soviet communists. And that is the only thing that worked.

Commenting on a website will never defeat fascism. If the “holy institutions” of democracy and liberalism failed, how could a silly tiny insignificant postboard succeed?

Only WhatsApp because of my family. Not much of a choice there…

Bro….. you can’t have a functioning democracy with an anti-democratic party freely participating in it. If a party’s explicit goal is to end democracy, they really SHOULDN’T be allowed to participate in democracy at all.

Paradox of tolerance and all…

Democracy shouldn’t be a free-for-all, where warlords can win enough votes to conquer the world. That is insane.

Yes… but also at the same time, the vast majority of people with bipolar or other mental health issues are not raging anti-semites.

This is the socialism I support, before fully automated luxury gay space communism ofc.

It’s not the “fault” of amoral individuals, no. This is simply the system working as intended. A system where capital translates to political power will inevitably lead to capital accumulation. Corporations are only for generating more capital and more profits to their owners. Profits they can turn into more capital elsewhere.

It’s silly to expect a “good” version of this where the people at the top… don’t put their interests first? Like why would they ever do that? If someone at the top doesn’t fight for profit like a shark, they will lose their spot and risk becoming a worker, or dooming their family and future generations to become workers.

These people are just doing what’s best for them. And everybody around says “hey! that’s bad, you should put aside your self interest for our self interest!”.

Bro the problem is THE SYSTEM. As long as we have this system, we will always have the same people in power, the same problems, and the planet will die in 50 years. You can fight reality all you want, but that’s where we’re at.

Portugal has one the highest numbers of houses per inhabitant in the world. Over 40 per inhabitant. There are 700,000 empty homes in Portugal, not counting airbnbs and second homes. A country of 10,000,000 people.

From 2020 to 2023 there was an increase of 400,000,000 euros in international investment in the Portuguese real estate market. It literally doubles in 3 years.

There is a high number of houses that are kept as investments (empty, second houses, airbnbs etc.). This keeps the market hostage to an international investor class, who in every way but literally have infinite money.

This problem will keep getting worse and worse as long as the government doesn’t do something to fix the root of the issue.

Housing should not be a capital market to be speculated on. There should be no investors in housing.

Things people need to survive can’t be subject to market forces.

Homelessness and lack of housing affordability is exclusively an issue of neoliberal capitalism and the infection of every facet of our existence with “the market”.

The people in the boards of directors, the major investors, people who run large investment funds etc. are the same or very close to the owners of commercial real estate.

They don’t want to fuck themselves.

Also many times corporate rent is used as money laundering, to hide profits etc. Like the building is owned by company A, which is incorporated in the Virgin Islands, but is actually owned by the same group that owns company B that rents the building. So they pay money to themselves. So company B is not profitable and doesn’t have to pay taxes. Presto pronto.

Just a very obvious manoeuvre, there are certainly many more.

You know what would solve this? We all collectively agree this fucking tech is too important to be in the hands of a few billionaires, start an actual public free open source fully funded and supported version of it, and use it to fairly compensate every human being on Earth according to what they contribute, in general?

Why the fuck are we still allowing a handful of people to control things like this??

Bro the big oil corporations spent decades at the beginning of the 20th century creating and forcing the demand and dependency on oil. Watch “How Big Oil Conquered the World” from James Corbett.

It’s not like WE chose this to be the way things are. The people who control industry, and marketing, and media and THE GOVERNMENT, all MADE us and it all this way.
