It depends on the kind of immigrant. You have students, high educated workforce, people that flee from war/not safe to stay country and people that just want a (economic) better life.

I think too much of any immigration can cause maybe an issue that the majority of people are new and that the culture (how do we interact with each other, what is acceptable behavior etc) has not settled.

People have met their partner in a video game? I don't know dude.. Don't count on that chance of happening.

Anyway, stop focusing on not trying to be lonely. It will only make you more lonely.

I think it is because a dog has been seen as an object or tool for a long time. We are the owner. We buy the one that we like the most.

With humans we don't have ownership over another human. The human is owned by itself. So we let everyone decide for themselves who the want to breed with. One person will select a partner that is nice, some like a "bad boy", some like dark hair, blond, tall short, etc.

Also, humans are really not that different from each other while dogs can look like a completely different species.

It depends in the country you are.

If you want to show of your skills, why not write an article about it. This way you don't publish company property (maybe only snippets of code) and the viewer can read your reasons on why you made certain decisions.

But do not do this without consent of the company. If the company likes it, you could even start your article something along the lines of "here at %company% we like to write good code...". Than it is a win-win. I see this a lot on sites like medium.com

What if someone sets up an instance, make a post and manipulate the upvotes? Just give it a million upvotes. That would break the whole system..

Or a bit more subtle, every upvote is multiplied by 10.

If I can stop whenever (without payment), sign me up. It will be boring tho.. Very boring. Probably will need to keep my mind occupied because that situation can make you go crazy.

That is a long time ago that I have heard anyone say that. Wasn't there a client software called DC++ or something like that?

That is an awesome sentence. I will use that one some time.

Does this have anything to do with the whole email thing from the American military? According to the financial times, there are about 117.000 emails send to .ML addresses instead of .MIL..

Giant roll of wrapping paper. I'm using it for everything. My kid draws on the back, wrapped plates in them when moving, gift wrapping, painting.

Not my first memory.

When I was eight years old, I was wondering how long I could remember something. So I started an experiment. I decided to remember what I did that day for as long as possible. Every evening when I was in bed I would try to remember it. That was 30 years ago and I still remember that that day I went playing with a friend and we tried to make a swimming pool in his parents backyard and we played with some wild cats.

I hope I can keep the experiment going until I'm at least 90+

So it finally happened. Was already wondering why it kept working for so long. Hopefully we see the new Boost app for Lemmy soon.
