I created the routing profile and put it online, some other person then took it and actually integrated it and got it merged. So, I did the fun part and they did the boring (but also important) work.

So I'm not able to claim the full credit, but close enough to get a lot of bragging rights.

Well, please give it a shot then! 9ne can write a script that does this maintainence automatically.

Hey, your links are incorrect. It should be https://mapy.cz (single P) instead of having two P's - which link to a lingerie website... Can you edit your post?

https://mapcomplete.osm.be is a website where you can easily update and add new points to OSM. It is my favourite (because I'm also the one making it).

Instead of seeing everything at once, you get to choose many thematic maps, depending on what is interesting to you (e.g. 'shops', or 'restaurants', or 'cycling related stuff', or 'what is this street named after', ...)

You can get the fully unlocked version from F-Droid as well

Hi, that is an excellent question, but I'm not entirely sure what you are trying to achieve.

Are you trying to add some virtual points to a trip you are planning? (i.e. "at this point, I will have travelled 1 mile")

Or are you trying to add physical milestones (or historical milestones) into the shared geospation database called "OpenStreetMap"?

If so, the approach will be completely different.

No. Both package the same OSM-data, but they use a different binary format.

NextCloud has a PhoneTrack plugin

This is a small city in Belgium. The fortifications are a Vauban Fortress; but most parts of those medieval fortifications are now nature reserve (and protected as heritage). Some parts are open water, others are swamps.

However, most of the north-eastern side of the fortress was mapped as "forest" or something generic. After visiting it, I started micromapping this bit by bit. Upon saving and refreshing, the underlying structure of the fortress was suddenly visible, which was a nice surprise!

That really depends on the situation.

Some possible approaches:

  • Have a look on mapillary, they are a streetview-platform where you can also upload pictures to. Sometimes they have up-to-date images
  • Zebra crossings and cyclepaths don't change every year, so I guess it is not that bad? Unless you know major reconstructions have been done
  • Go out and survey instead (also see the first bullet point)
  • Ask other mappers in your city what they think.
