That you can "do everything that windows does". You can't. You can do similar things, you can do different things, you can do basic things, yes, but Linux can't do everything that windows does.

disclaimer: on linux since 2006

Indeed. If whatsapp isn't on the list, then I have all the confirmation I need.

Proton I guess? First tier is free, it's encrypted, your data is protected by Swiss privacy laws... There's an app for your phone and also a single VPN account as well.

They don't have a linux client for their Drive storage solution so I am mad at them but it may fit the ticket for you.

It has been asked among other thing 3 months ago, so I'm now bumping it as its own request: I am not on lemmy to see stuff from youtube, twitter, Murdoch-owned trash media, you see the point.

Please add "block by url" to Filters, or have Keywords Filter parse the address the link points to too.

Thanks in advance!

That what I do is easy and that I'm "just pushing buttons". Yeah, I'm pushing the right button at the right time because the whoke shebang has been program'd, cued, mixed over weeks of rehearsals so that, come show time, it's all by magic. Magic of pushing the right button at the right time while also reading the brochure, watch the stage, issue cues to other dept sometimes in 2 different languages.

Easy peasy!

Mandatory "I want a Drive Client for Linux" comment. Why should I care about features I won't be able to access out of a cumbersome web app without even a search tool?

Also, why should I since I won't be renewing anyway.

Not a boat owner, but trained on sailboats: if you feel like it, take sailing lessons and get a feel for it, it's fun and relaxing. I hate motorboats for the noise, the environmental impact. And it's kinda dull.

In any case, navigation and boating in general has rules, depending on where you are you may have to get a license.

Got to your local sail club, take lessons. When you're trained you will be able to rent boats from time to time. Almost nobody sails enough that buying is reasonable. And anchoring in a proper port means an annual fee to pay.

Ah again. One more moving target to chase for the nice AsahiLinux project.

PSA: it stands for Read The FINE Manual

Now canonically switched to "read the friendly manual" which I find more patronizing

You don't need that: Proton will only surrender accounts/information to local authorities with the appropriate paperwork - and that's their selling point on privacy, swiss law being pretty protective of privacy ; in this case, a corpus of evidence has been submitted by a recognized foreign entity & considered valid for action in regard to swiss law.

That's what makes proton secure for journalists, political opponents and such: no swiss judge will enable any random dictator to get a dissident's info, it won't fly with swiss law. And if that escalates to bogus criminal charges, it is still up to a swiss judge to decide how and if to proceed.

You put your trust in Switzerland here, not in a nerdy business with an atom-smashing background.

Duh, we have high-speed rail in Morocco. It's called Al Boraq and is the best way to blast from Casablanca to Tangier.

And it is not overpriced like in France, where the tgv is more expensive than a taxi to the airport, your plane ticket, and then another taxi.

Finding stuff on Mastodon is more about hashtags. Eventually, by subscribing to #stuff you're interested in, you will discover accounts worth following. The Tusky app allows you to subscribe to hashtags like to an account. I don't follow people anymore, I follow topics!
