I like that everyone who saw this post thought of the exact same joke.
It's as if we're a collecti- hey wait a minute...
You know what, when you mention the movement of the characters, I see what you mean. Castlevania characters move more realistically, but it's still pretty stylized, thus the "almost anime" feeling.
Interesting, because Castlevania is a Japanese IP, but is written by Warren Ellis and animated by the same studio as Adventure Time, one of the most beloved series to come out of the 2010s animation boom. Meanwhile DotA: DB is a western IP that was animated by Korean Studio Mir (who have also worked on the final seasons of both Legend of Korra and the Boondocks in the past).
I got more "anime" feelings from DOTA than I did Castlevania, but I also consume more fantasy anime than the average person I think.
I don't go to anime for body standards bro 😭
Between the anime women who'd get two black eyes if they went for a light jog, Goku's muscles somehow not ripping out of his skin whenever he got to a new level of Super Saiyan, and whatever the hell is going on with glorious skinny legend Lelouch Lamperouge and the length of his limbs, JJBA might be on the more "attainable" side of anime bodies, especially Part 4 onwards.
You know what anime has noses and distinctive designs?
My GOAT, Jojo's Bizarre Adventure.
I'd rather drink yogurt every day than take poop pills tbh, but I respect other people's choices.
As an US-Canadian dual citizen who grew up and was educated in Canada/Europe, I'm not gonna lie, I don't get this argument. Canada as a confederation is 157 years old, we haven't had the time to carve out a unifying cultural identity.
Ask any Canadian, hell ask yourself, "What is Canadian culture?" Rick Mercer has done so many street interview segments about this (we watched them during history class for funsies). It always boils down to "We're different from/not as bad as America", "We're kind of like Europe" or "hockey". The answers were also very different if you asked francophones in Quebec, francophones outside of Quebec, Acadians, or you know...Indigenous people.
Actually Rick Mercer might have been the closest thing we had to Canadian culture. And we did nothing to protect him 😞
You missed every point I made.
do you think Wicked has the longevity of other popular franchises
Babes, Wicked has been a musical theatre darling since 2003. It already HAS longevity and popularity, just not in your circles. Once again, 2nd biggest Broadway show of all time, (actually of this millennium.) It's not #1 only because Lion King has been around longer.
The Broadway Girls™️ and Broadway Gays™️ are coming for that merch, and so are the Ariana Stans. Again, look at the price of that Cat Valentine doll.
(Also, comparing Harry Potter to Wicked is funny because of how they're two of the THE 2008-2015 Tumblr fandoms (ignoring Superwholock))
You expect people to care about Wicked merchandise, misprint or not, in the future
This is such a Lemmy take. Ariana Grande is one of the biggest pop stars in entertainment, and Wicked is ONE OF THE BEST SELLING BROADWAY SHOWS EVER. Only behind the Lion King in total sales I think.
If a doll from Ariana's dinky little Nickelodeon tv show (don't come for me Victorious stans) is selling for this much, how much do you think her doll from Wicked is gonna sell for to the Broadway enthusiasts and Ariana stans?
Not everything is for you, but that doesn't make it irrelevant.

Interesting. How does one develop this kind of delusion...
