I'm reading a copy of Che's Bolivian Diary printed by Pathfinder. It's got a lot of really great supplemental information in it.

I've read "On the Juche Idea" and listened to a few podcasts. Thanks in advance!

I recently finished the Epic of Gilgamesh, and I'm starting a collection of poems by Rumi.

I've previously read Cold Mountain by Han Shan.

Are there any other ancient poets/poems with published work that you'd recommend?

I'm looking for things that are:

  • Basically as old as possible
  • Poetic/mystic
  • Not Christian (or Western, Greek, or Roman).

Thanks!

It was a really good read. The main character is a such a breathtakingly massive hater.

"For us who are determined to break the back of colonialism, our historic mission is to authorize every revolt, every desperate act, and every attack aborted or drowned in blood."

I just finished it today. It was very interesting to read of the lives and traditions of the Ibo people, and it was very sad to see them begin to be destroyed by the colonial machine.

"He of whom they have never stopped saying that the only language he understands is that of force, decides to give utterance by force. In fact, as always, the settler has shown him the way he should take if he is to become free. The argument the native chooses has been furnished by the settler, and by an ironic turning of the tables it is the native who now affirms that the colonialist understands nothing but force."

There's clearly something about to happen in Western Asia, this is meant to be a question related to the situation, but mostly a place for speculation.

Is there a way that Iran can aid Hamas without a risk of being nuked? Is it easier for Hezbollah as they aren't exactly a country in their own right?

Is the only way to engage a nuclear-armed state guerilla war waged by internal dissidents?

Hamas has never shown the capacity to level a full building. This war would be much shorter if they could.

Every successful rocket strike of theirs is a simple smoking hole.

The zionist state, on the other hand, has bombed this exact hospital before, has extensively bragged about their bombing capability, and cannot stop lying.

This is less complicated than you're making it out to be.

(To another killer): Had you left the fetus
For thirty days, the possibilities would have changed:
The occupation might end and that suckling
Would not remember the time of siege,
And he'd grow up a healthy child, become a young man
And study in the same institution with one of your daughters
The ancient history of Asia
And they might fall together in passion's net
And beget a girl (and she'd be Jewish by birth)
So what have you done then?
Now your daughter has become a widow
And your granddaughter an orphan?
What have you done to your fugitive family
And how did you strike three doves with one shot?

"anti-tankie".

Historically and politically illiterate.

Any chance these two things are related?

Is there a reason that you've created a fresh account, to post a complaint about 2 comment removals (not a ban), in an instance that doesn't even federate with the instance you're complaining about?

Like, what's your goal here? Dotworld already defedded. There's not more that they can do.

You clearly aren't interested in interacting with hexbear in a pleasant way. Why shouldn't the mod remove your comments? And why shouldn't a volunteer enjoy what they're doing? They still gave a reasonable reason for the removal.

If you're trying to paint them in some negative light, this is absolutely the mildest and corniest example.

This meme was deep in the comments of the post about that, and I thought it deserved some time front-and-center!

The original admin is, the rest are a mixed bag.

It's a year old post about brigading Reddit, that garnered disagreement and a lukewarm response.

Absolutely hilarious that half the fediverse is preemptively running scared of hexbear (with no real reason), and we're worried about the 'grad being too ML for them.

Tankies, fascists. Close enough to the same thing tbh.

"Nazis, people who liberated Auschwitz, what's the difference?"

On a more serious note, fascism is a particular political movement with particular features. Communism is also a particular political movement, with different features. They are different.

You're welcome to think they're equally bad (you're wrong), but they're factually not the same thing.

They've been working really hard to bring it back in line with regular Lemmy. They have some developers on their side!

Hexbear? They're left-unity. That's just a lie.
