That's because the HN poster I quoted, like many many MANY people, has conflated predicting iq based off of genes with heritabilty. I'd recommend reading the linked substack, the author's much more succient and knowledgeable than I am, and I wouldn't want to misrepresent his point

Speaking of breathtaking racism with low quality cites, does anyone remember ebola chan? He was my favorite because he was a reactionary with 4chan temperament, so he'd mald when pushed instead of spewing out word salad.

I wonder how many recent trans people tried/considered doubling down on their sex (eg males taking more testosterone) instead first. Maybe (for some people) either end of gender spectrum is comfortable and being in the middle feels bad¿ Anybody know? Don't want to ask my friends because this Q will certainly anger them

Does he want to medically transition from being a man to being a... bigger, stronger man? Because there's a special place you can do that and it doesn't require you to yo-yo your body's test levels for 2 decades.

HN Parenting Pro-tip: Chuck your kids into the pool, keep 'em sharp. Sure they might drown, but at least they won't trust you after they make it back to land.

The picture, I could live with; The blog, I could stomach; but the comments? Oh my god the comments

Yes, I used to think I was a very smart person, smartest in most rooms I entered. I now realize I had never entered any really smart rooms. I now say publicly and often that Scott Alexander is the smartest person I have ever encountered as well as one the best explainers--and his commenters are often nearly that smart and persuasive as well. It has been humbling to recognize what a truly smart person looks like . . . but also a great blessing.

Wtf? If I didn't know any better I'd think he was talking about Euler! I'd vomit and die if I ever heard that irl.

Here that car seat post I was talking about

The best sneer is from the comments imo

Unfortunately, the genie is out of the bottle here. It would be political malpractice to liberalize these safety rules. The first child who dies or is critically injured after eliminating the post two year old requirements is a political disaster for whoever changed the rules

I wanted to see what kind of person would defend Scott, but disparage Murray so..

ctrl-f "Murray" read quote related ctrl-w

I almost don't want to know what motte the author has set up to make Murray's hereditarianism seem "obviously correct" and "sensible". Are we supposed to ignore the cross burning and constant race science posting on twitter?
