Maybe it should be a pay what you want but it doesn't charge you for a week. So you can use the app and then decide whether to up the price if it's useful or cancel the payment if it doesn't work for you.

I did try to install Qubes recently for this purpose but it's not well supported on my laptop hardware.

My ebike comes with a GPS tracking app to locate it. Luckily it's optional but it's already begun

The issue is, that people always say this but then people don't donate.

People have server costs and living costs and ads are realistically the only way to contribute to those. I always swing €5 here and there to developers whos apps I use often but most people don't: look at the Ko-fi page of small devs and they probably have less than €50 total, That's a couple months of server costs probably.

I wouldn't say so, they use the same parts as everyone else. My bike has full Shimano 105 for £200 less than any other manufacturer. Frame and fork are solid etc, no issues at all in 4 years.

When they killed Podcasts it was the last straw for me. It was an excellent app that did what it should with a good UI: the sort of app Google don't make anymore.

I self hosted audiobookshelf and its 100x better. This then led me to self host everything else (Immich for Photos, Araa for Search, etc) and now I don't use Google services at all.

I used to be all in on everything Google but you actually got useful apps and services for your data 10 years ago, now they harvest your data and give you shit in return, and shut down anything useful so you can't rely on it.

GrapheneOS is the most secure mobile OS except things like Ubuntu Touch, or using throwaway phones etc which obviously don't support the apps you need to exist in society these days.

In the Gadgetbridge settings it says it only works with OsmAnd and Google Maps, neither of which I use. But it should work with those two
