Yeah I'm using Obsidian instead.

I wanted to see what the fuss was about after windows 11 came out, because I was sick of Windows intrusive UI and shady business practices.

I still use windows for some things, but now I duel boot to cinnamon and it is my daily desktop driver. I vastly prefer the clean interface and speed of Linux over windows, and I now play most of my games on it too. I was shocked when I realized that Elden Ring runs great, and looks better, on Linux while it was unplayable on windows at release.

I also installed Fedora to my surface pro after a windows update made it impossible to use without severe slowdown. I've had my surface for 6 years and it runs great on Linux.

The only downside to Linux is that, as am artist, the apps are limited. Blender is fantastic, Krita is catching up, but there is no way to use clip studio, harmony (toon boom, storyboard pro), or Zbrush (yes I can sculpt in blender but it is not quite there yet.)

Had a really bad weed addiction (yes I know it's psychological but imo it was harder than quitting cigarettes)

Whenever I tried to quit I wouldn't be able to sleep for up to 3 days at a time. If I got past that I could be clean for a month or two before caving and falling back into weed usage.

Turns out I had really bad OCD and PTSD and zero serotonin (thus, no sleep). I got put on Lexapro and the obsessions were 90% better after that, and the weed usage has gone from daily to once every few months, with friends. The hard part has been adjusting, and developing, a new lifestyle and hobbies to replace the drug use. I also have Been grieving the decade I lost to addiction and trauma.

My tips: addiction is a response to something else going on. It's not laziness, it's not lack of willpower, it's not because you are a monster. It might be due to covering up pain, or because you're self medicating and don't realize it. Be kind to yourself, because the world is unnecessarily shitty to addicts.

Pathologic 2

At the end of the game the

spoilerinquisition looks at you and tells you that everything has been for naught, not because you couldn't save everyone, but because you were wasting time, in your real life, trying to save people in a video game as your real life slips away from you.

Left me shook. Amazing game.

Um, no, they're going to call grandson to do it lol.

Also, Linux mint is a very stable distro & I doubt grandma will have to do much if she just uses it for email, a browser, and sudoku

They'll probably enjoy Linux way more than windows. It's so much less intrusive.

We've known each other for a decade and he consumes a lot of common history sources like BBC documentaries, Behind the Bastards, Hardcore History etc... he's well meaning but very lib, and an expat from TERF Island.

He wanted podcast recommendations so I sent him "Blowback". He is very excited to listen to it.

I almost feel bad, but someone had to tell him.

I have a phone with a stylus built in and it's great- but sometimes I don't want to stare at a screen.

If I'm Journaling I stick with pen and paper because I dont want the distraction. There is also something nice about the feedback of ink on a page.

If the note is important I'll put a sticky note on my desk and copy it to obsidian or take a photo of it.

This looks hard but I got two graphics cards and I am curious so I might give this a shot, thanks!

Hey,

So I'm an artist who is desperately wanting to make Linux my daily driver. I am currently dual booting Linux Mint, and I've gotten to the point where I hate windows and resent having to use it, so I think I'm ready to make the switch.

But due to my job I still need these programs to function.

The first one: Toon Boom Storyboard Pro

This is industry standard. I do want to switch to blender for boarding but some studios require this program. Same with Toon Boom Harmony.

The second: Clip Studio Paint

I do use Krita, but it isn't quite there yet in terms of some of the functionality I need it for. It's getting there though!

Plz and thank.
