I had to look up Yuzuki Family as that show was not even on my radar for this season. There are so many shows coming out each season that it is hard to keep up. On the flip side, that usually means that you can always find a couple shows that really click with you each season. It certainly sounds wholesome from the synopsis. Might be one to queue up when it's been a while since I talked with my brother.
Are you watching Trigun (1998) or Trigun Stampede (2023)? My wife loves Trigun and we are planning on watching it soon (working through another show right now). However, she was really put off by Stampede's art style and gave it a pass.
I hadn't heard of Only Yesterday previously and it definitely looks interesting. Glad to hear you are soldiering on through your HBO Max catalog and that you are enjoying Eminence! They have really done the adaptation well through enhancing the humor through anime-only additions. Looking forward to some of the upcoming arcs which are some fan favorites.
I love the OP animation sequence. It really shows the lengths to which Rentaro will go for his family and showcases the personalities of the different girls. I had forgotten just how thirsty Hakari was in this story as it has been a little while since I read the manga (I'm not fully up to date). So far the show has done a good job capturing the absurdity of the source while retaining the wholesomeness of the interactions of our named cast of characters.
Also, the vice principal gag is really off-putting, especially when it is animated. I was not a fan of those parts of the episode. The good news is that I don't really remember her character really factoring into the story much going forward.
Same. Faced with the prospect of having to manually make episode posts going forward, I actually spun up a wiki for myself to more easily be able to copy paste all the markdown for each show involved in the posts.
I went into this series blind. I had just seen a key visual and read the synopsis on MAL. I had expected a pretty comfy SOL/comedy centering around a witch and her adopted daughter with comedy stemming from people's misunderstanding based on their appearances. Something similar to Slime 300 crossed with Usagi Drop (two shows I really liked). Those elements were definitely present in the first two episodes. I also would have never guessed that the orange, derpy-looking ostrich creature from the visual is some legendary phoenix.
However, I was not expecting the show to have as much ecchi as was in these first two episodes. Especially ecchi focused around a character that we are reminded several times in these episodes is only 16 years old. I don't really know where things are going to go from here. There have been shows that inject ecchi into the beginning of the series and then tone it down later (Mieruko-chan comes to mind), so I will probably stick around for a couple more episodes to see how it goes.
Lycoris Recoil is my vote as well. As an aside, I recently started watching Zombie Land Saga and learned that the eyecatches of the girls posing with things are actually products made in Saga prefecture. Anyway, LycoReco's eye catches are great.
My partner worked for a very exploitative company for a long time, so Zom 100's first episode felt pretty close to home in that respect. Sometimes the most random things can help provide perspective and strength to persevere through adversity. Wishing you the best!
I also plan on checking out Murder Farce when I get a chance as it has gotten a lot of love in this thread.
Not every show is a winner in a season. Sometimes the plot of a story just can't live up to the characters that live it. I've felt that way about shows in the past. I usually like to dive into an older show that has stood the test of time afterward.
The best sci fi is able to focus on very human questions without getting bogged down in crunchy, technical specifics. I am a big fan of the genre in western media, but haven't really explored it in anime very much.
I might give Great Cleric a shot then. The synopsis has all the right things to make me interested, I just didn't really have time to add any more shows to my plate this season. Thanks for the recommendation!
I think that if they mess with his brother he could snap pretty easily. One of the only things we knew about Helck in the early part of the season is that he was supposed to have killed his brother. So, I fully expect the humans to force some kind of confrontation between Helck and Cless or just kill Cless and frame Helck so that Helck doesn't spread the truth about the demons.
