Your description of The Bully In Charge made me imagine it as a mix between 21 Jump Street and Fight Club. It sounds absolutely wild. I am not too well read on manhwa (basically only follow Omniscient Reader and read Raeliana, an odd pairing I know), so I didn't realize there is a whole genre for Korean delinquents, but I guess it makes sense since there are analogous manga genres. It certainly wouldn't be the first story to start out great and then keep trying to outdo itself until it becomes farcical. Sometimes though, those can still be really fun, even if we end up laughing at them.
One of the things that I think make this series better than a generic harem series is that Rentaro is a fantastic MC. He always goes above and beyond to make everybody happy. He never uses the looming threat of their death if they reject him to influence their desire to join his family. Really looking forward to this series if they keep it as wild as it has been so far. The crazier they get, the better.
Every other MC wishes they could learn her powers.
I can speak as to what is likely the cause for Hirogaru being missing as I have messed around with the bot's code a bit. Hirogaru is listed as a Winter 2023 show (ref). I doubt the instance of holo that is posting here has loaded the winter 2023 shows. That would likely cause a deluge of posts of old episodes/shows that would need cleaning up. I don't think it is very easy to just load one show and have it ignore the previously released episodes.
As for Otona, sometimes there are shows that the bot seems unable to find reliably. Another example from this season would be Tearmoon as it never made a thread yesterday for it. The bot works by scraping a bunch of streaming sites and a public torrent tracker for newly episode listings, so it can sometimes miss stuff if the formatting of a site changes or if there is an unexpected naming convention of a show.
Full disclosure, the reason I am somewhat familiar with how the bot works is that I have been tinkering around with the code to try to improve some of these things. The bot was originally made for r/anime almost a decade ago, so there are now much better apis available.
EDIT: I just loaded the winter shows on a local copy of holo and it was able to pick up Hirogaru, but still not Tearmoon or Otona.
This isn't really an answer, but I spent a lot of time trying different voice chat systems out a couple years back, but couldn't get my social group to move off Discord.
So, the real answer is any that you can convince the people you want to talk with to use. However other options include Mattermost, Jitsi, Mumble, Teamspeak, and Nextcloud Talk off the top of my head. I think I remember seeing that rocket.chat has voice now too.
Personally speaking, I appreciate the automated posts as a standardized format for the posts to be made. Having consistent post titles makes searching for previous discussions easier and the posts (after some tweaking for lemmy vs. reddit) include a table to make looking at previous episode discussion threads very easy.
That being said, I sympathize with people that don't want the community or their feed filled up with episode threads that don't have any comments/activity in them. While the community remains small, it might be better to limit the number of shows that the bot is used for rather than let it rip on everything it finds. The anime subreddit can do that because of the larger userbase more actively voting popular things to the front page, but in this community, all posts spend some time in the front page.
The bot also definitely has some issues. There are some shows that it seems to not be able to pick up new episodes for. As an example this season, the bot missed making a thread for Tearmoon Empire (thanks @lvxferre@lemmy.ml for stepping in). Last season, I remember several shows that also never really got threads either. I am not a dev, so I can't really dive too deeply to figure out why, but the problems are there.
No obvious romance that I can remember. The story is mainly a vessel through which visual gags and dick puns are channeled from on high through the pen of the author. So, there are hijinks about his dick doing SOL things like going to school, making friends, that kind of thing. A little teaser if you will: the most recent chapter (26) introduced a very important character to which the titular dick and our protagonist are very attached (but it isn't romantically, to be clear).
Loved the fakeout with Vermilio coming onto the beach in what appears to be grief but turns out to just be frustration with Helck. Also loved that she took the time to cross the finish line to make the others happy; didn't even push back on it after Piwi pointed it out. The cohesion and mutual trust between Vermilio and Helck has developed very naturally.
Really looking forward to this one! The manga is one of my favorites.
I use LNReader to read fan translations of web novels. If you have ever used Tachiyomi for manga before, then LNReader is basically the same but for text.
I had heard good things about the source material for this show and so far I have been enjoying it though the build has been slow. I am glad that there are 24 episodes planned for this one because it feels like the story is just finishing its prologue with this episode. Looking forward to seeing Helck and Vermilio together going forward.
I haven't seen any announcements. If I had to guess, I would expect the show to continue to come out regularly. However, if things continue to spiral over at Mappa, then the quality could decline as the show continues. Time will tell.
