MADRID, Sept 8 (Reuters) - Spain will increase pressure on Israel by banning Israel-bound ships and aircraft carrying weapons from calling at Spanish ports or entering Spanish airspace, Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez said on Monday.

Spain will also increase aid to the Palestinian authority and the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) and will impose an embargo on goods made in Israeli settlements in the occupied Palestinian territories, he said.

Spain will also ban anyone who has participated directly in what Sanchez qualified as "genocide" from entering the country.

Norway goes to the polls on Monday after an unusually close-fought and polarised election dominated by the cost of living, wealth taxes, oil fund investment in Israel and relations with Donald Trump.

There has been a surge in support for the populist rightwing Progress party led by Sylvi Listhaug, in what has been described by some as “the Maga-fication” of Norwegian politics. In the event of a rightwing victory, Listhaug could become prime minister.

But according to polls, the most probable result is a narrow win for the centre-left, meaning a likely continuation of the minority Labour government led by Jonas Gahr Støre, who has been prime minister since 2021, with the former Nato secretary-general Jens Stoltenberg, one of Norway’s most popular politicians, as finance minister.

The Los Angeles Holocaust Museum caved into pressure Saturday by scrubbing a social media post that extended the "Never Again" pledge beyond Jewish suffering, bowing to a backlash over drawing parallels to Israel's actions against Palestinians.

"NEVER AGAIN CAN'T ONLY MEAN NEVER AGAIN FOR JEWS," the museum wrote in a post on Instagram, owned by US company Meta, a statement many interpreted as comparing the World War II Holocaust to Israel's attacks and intentional infliction of famine in Gaza.

Facing fierce criticism, the museum deleted the post and issued a defensive statement claiming it was "part of a pre-planned social media campaign intended to promote inclusivity and community" that was "easily open to misinterpretation"

So I finally got these switches intalled in my Rainy75 that I posted about the other day (YushaKobo), and I haven't seena lot posted online about these yet, so I thought I'd add my 10p.

I chose them because I'm on team tactile, not linear, so I needed some tac's to go in the Rainy which only ships with linears. I tried all of the tactiles in the giant switch testers at YushaKobo and this was the one I liked the feel of the best. I'd never heard of them before, but feels best is what feels best, so it wasn't a hard decision.

I think it was the lightest of the tactiles in their testers, but I wouldn't call it light. More of a medium weight IMHO. I'm coming from 65g Zealios R1 and the actuation force is very similar to that. The bottom-out force is a bit lighter, as the Zealios have a cushiony spring that ramps up the resistance, whereas these kinda just collapse after the bump, in a really satisfying way.

The bump I would describe as a medium. Defo more than the "scratchy red" of the old MX Brown. Pretty similar again to the Zealios, but with less pre-travel. It actually kinda reminds me of the HHKB/Topre a little. The bump is right at the top, then smooth, then it collapses to bottom-out. I guess the bump is longer than with topre tho.

The sound, OMFG the sound! It's a LOT deeper than the stock HMX Violets on the Rainy. It sounds soooo much better. I might have a hard time persuading myself to rip out the case foam and add a tape mod to the pcb chasing even deeper sounds, because this already sounds amazing. This was one of the things that put me off getting a full alu board for a long time, so many recordings, and that one I tried at a meetup once upon a time, where they just go tink tink tink and people call that thocky for some reason? With the stock violets this was not thocky at all. Now it is, and I like it!

There's NO wobble. My old Zealio R1's are extremely wobbly so I wanted something that fixed that, but probably everything these days is fine. The stock violet switches also have basically no wobble, but the BigLucky's do indeed have slightly less.

So there it is. Basically a rave review, but I don't really have a lot of modern switches to compare to.

A solar-powered canoe initiative originally launched in Ecuador’s Amazon in 2017 has now expanded to Indigenous coastal communities in Brazil, Peru, Suriname and the Solomon Islands. Researchers say the effort helps communities in tropical regions reduce gasoline and diesel use, avoid road expansion and develop non-extractive income projects like tourism and forestry products businesses.

Ichinki Tentets Tanchim Federico, a leader from the Indigenous Achuar community of Wayusentsa in Ecuador, which recently received a solar-powered canoe, told Mongabay via WhatsApp that the boat has reduced pollution by using engines that don’t release exhaust fumes in the waters and air.

“[They] do not pollute the environment, especially for those who live near rivers,” he said, adding that it has saved Indigenous people the cost of purchasing fuel and oil.

The Kara Solar Foundation, an Indigenous-led team of engineers, communicators, social scientists and solar technicians, created the project after Indigenous Achuar people in the southeastern Ecuadorian Amazon expressed their vision to build a solar-powered boat. Tapiatpia, the first solar canoe, survived an 1,800-kilometer (1,118-mile) journey across several Amazonian rivers and safely returned to Achuar territory in 2017.
