According to an official statement on Ryujinx's Discord server, developer gdkchan was contacted by Nintendo and they were offered an agreement to stop working on the emulator project, and while the agreement wasn't confirmed yet, the organization has been entirely removed.

For the uninitiated, this is software for music and it's notoriously complicated. I have a paid version from about a decade ago and I'm not giving them anymore of my money. Reddit used to have a vsttorrents guide for this, but it's been forcibly removed. I'm trying to get Komplete 15 Ultimate, with all the added stuff I'll probably never even look at

Last June, fans of Comedy Central – the long-running channel behind beloved programmes such as The Daily Show and South Park – received an unwelcome surprise. Paramount Global, Comedy Central’s parent company, unceremoniously purged the vast repository of video content on the channel’s website, which dated back to the late 1990s.

Every Daily Show episode since Jon Stewart took over as host in 1999? Disappeared. The historic remains of The Colbert Report? Disappeared. Presumably, one hopes, those materials remain archived internally somewhere, but for the general masses, they’re kaput. Instead, the links redirect visitors to Paramount+, a streaming service whose offerings pale in comparison. (The service offers recent seasons of the Daily Show to paying subscribers, but only a fraction of the prior archive.)

Such digital demolitions are becoming routine. For fans and scholars of pop culture, 2024 may go down as the year the internet shrank. Despite the immense archiving capabilities of the internet, we’re living through an age of mass deletion, a moment when entertainment and media corporations see themselves not as custodians of valuable cultural history, once freely available, but as ruthless maximisers of profit. Those of us who believe in the historical value of accessing media from the past are paying the price.

I'm migrating because Transmission is horrible for a large amount of torrents (multiple of hundreds) due to the complete lack of concurrency capability. But I'll miss Transmission. This configuration has spanned many different operating systems and was migrated from transmission-gtk to transmission-daemon.

Deezer ARLs (lemmy.dbzer0.com)
submitted 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) by riquisimo@lemmy.dbzer0.com to c/piracy@lemmy.dbzer0.com

Where are you guys finding you Deezer ARLs for Deemix etc.?

The megathread post here hasn't been updated in a while. The last ARL expired Sept. 10th. That page does link to a telegram post, but it's also expired.

I don't have telegram, but by incrementing the last few numbers in the URL I was able to find a more recent ARL, but this is a hit-or-miss technique.

I was thinking about getting a telegram acct to follow Firehawk, however telegram works, but I is there a simpler way? I know of YAMS and Lucida, but Deemix is really nice.

Many users here speak the joys of soulseek, but I'm under the impression Deezer would have a higher base-standard for quality.

EDIT: Solved, thanks to this comment. The ARLs list isn't in numerical order. You can search for 2025 (or 2099 even) and find some ARLs that are still active. Thanks everyone!

I was just reading through the interview process for RED, and they specifically forbid the use of VPN during the interview. I don't understand this requirement, and it seems like it would just leak your IP address to the IRC host, which could potentially be used against you in a honeypot scenario. Once they have your IP, they could link that with the credentials used with the tracker while you are torrenting, regardless of if you used VPN while torrenting.

I know that recently Spotify requires a credentials.json file and not just a user name and password. I can’t seem to find a method though that works in creating that file. I’ve tried librespot and librespot-auth, both of which should expose themselves as a speaker on my network for Spotify to cast too but it doesn’t show up. I’ve tried them both in a WSL instance and compiled directly for Windows with no luck.

Is there another way I’m missing to generate those credentials? I have a valid account, so I know there’s not an issue there.

Recently there was a post where the OP pitched an idea for a service related to this community. I don't want to go into details but the post's text has shown that maybe there's some misunderstanding around the technology, and a considerable amount of us also thought that it's not a good idea.
The post was removed (noticed because I couldn't reply to someone) probably because the OP felt shame for their "failed" idea, but I think we shouldn't delete posts for reasons like this.

The post created an interesting discussion around the idea with useful info. It's useful to have things like these for future reference, for similar discussions in the future.
This is an anonymous forum, so there's no shame in recommending things, when you do that politely like it was done in that case.

If it’s not formatted in APFS, then you have almost certainly identified your issue. Boy, did I feel silly finding this out.

I can't get radarr to add https://www.imdb.com/title/tt27430909/ to the library.

Searching with imdb:tt27430909. When I try other imdb ids, it works fine. But this one won't work. Anyone know how to manually bring this into my libary.

FWIW, I actually bought this title off of his website. It is really inexpensive, so if you can afford it, I recommend buying it.

Context:

I'm currently running Debian 12.7 on VirtualBox, trying out linux before I become experienced enough to fully switch my drive to linux. I have an i5 cpu and an amd radeon gpu on my laptop. I run kde-plasma with wayland.

I have sorted out some basic stuff, but my current problem is how to play the few games I have on linux ("Counter-strike 1.6", "Hades I", "MGR: Revengeance", "Minecraft" (t-launcher) and "Outer-Wilds"). I want ro move their game data too, but I think that's a simple copy paste on the appropriate paths. I also want to run a few other programs, possibly Notepad++ and mp3tag, but I think I can figure those if I fugre the games.

I know about the existance of Wine, Winetricks (though not very good at using it), Proton, Lutris, Bottles and Heroic (and PlayOnLinux which I haven't installed).

I have installed Lutris (flatpak), Bottles (flatpak) and Heroic (Appimage).

I have successfully manually installed Notepad++ in Bottles using soda-9.0.1 and semi-successfully manually installed Counter-strike 1.6 on Lutris using wine-ge-8-26-x86_64. The issues with that (among others?) is that I cant look around with the mouse and there is no audio. Apparently some dependencies are missing.

So, this comes to my question:

How do I figure what dependencies to use on my wineprefixes?

Lutris, bottles and heroic theoritically allow you to edit the dependencies, in case something goes wrong. Lutris also is supposed to have some installation scripts on their database.

Is there any way I can find any configuration in text form? How can I then use this text to pick the dependencies myself?

I'm thinking of a list with the recommended changes:

Counter-strike 1.6 installation script:

Install Windows fonts

Install cmd

Install vcrun2013

Do X changes on registry

etc.

Is there such a thing? Is there any other way to figure this out (other than painfully and randomly trying setup combinations)?

There are some torrrents showing up with .lnkextension (ex: movie.mp3.lnk, tvshow.mkv.lnk...) and automated software (Sonarr, Radarr, Lidarr, qBittorrent RSS Downloader) could pick those torrents (but not import).

These (fake) torrents include a .lnk file that executes a script on your Windows

HOW TO exclude from download on qBittorrent.

  • Go to Options -> Downloads

  • Enable "Exclude file names"

  • Add patterns:

(one by line)

*.mp4.lnk
*.mp3.lnk
*.mkv.lnk
*.torrent.lnk

Or exclude all together: *.lnk

Does anyone know if it exists and is active?

Looking to join alternative quality trackers and I’m trying to avoid Reddit.

Not asking for invites, just help being there once it opens up.

Preferably with some sort of freeleech rules to get going as I hate the initial hustle, downloading random stuff to build a buffer. My NAS is running 24/7 so seeding is not an issue anyways.

Would also like to hear your experiences and recomendations on trackers. Currently active on TL and very happy with them.

Cheers!

Private torrent trackers have all the reasons to remain private, and I don't blame them for that and I am glad private trackers exists. But the torrent files themselves have a setting that says "this torrent is private", which makes the BitTorrent client to not distribute them via DHT, which makes magnetic links not work with them, so they are restricted to people who can obtain the torrent file from the private tracker.

What if clients had an option (on by default) to distribute the torrent via DHT and perform PEX, while still taking care to: a) not place the private tracker in the magnetic link the user might generate, and b) separate the upload/download statistics for the peers returned by the private tracker, so the ratio statistics in the private tracker are not skewed?

This way, private torrents could "escape" into the wild, still maintaining the privacy and social/closed community effects of the private tracker. Someone could download something for a friend or for a random person who asks for some content in a forum, send them the magnetic link, and don't have the private tracker activities or anonymity affected in any way.

What do you think of this idea? How do you think it would be received by private trackers and BitTorrent client developers? What are the drawbacks you can think of?

Signal Piracy group (signal.group)

I saw some threads here about Telegram and piracy stuff being banned. So, as an experimental alternative, I created a public Signal group for piracy.

Maybe it'll be useful?

Before joining

Signal supports usernames and hiding telephone numbers. Here's a blog entry on how to do so. You might want to:

  • set a username
  • change your profile name (these are two separate things!)
  • hide your phone number

So I recently got into sideloading on iPhone but I have no idea where to get the (tweaked) ipas from. Not sure which site is safe and trustworthy.

I do have AltStore installed and ready though.
