Costco has brought back Margherita pizzas, but now they are rectangular -- not round, and no longer have basil. Basil is a key ingreditent and they've gotten rid of it in favor of their oily, salty, pesto topping. Also, the dough is no longer pizza dough, but this foccia-like flat bread that is far too tough. So we have an oily mess on hard bread with way too much salt and not much else in flavor. It is edible, but not worth the price ($16.99 -- item #1816582).

Today I purchased Citterio Sliced Assorted Meat at Costco. This is my first time buying Italian Panini sliced assorted meats. Could anyone tell me that which is in my plate?

  • Sweet capocolla
  • Mortadella
  • Prosciutto cotto

Thank you.

The membership increase, set for September 1, 2024, will impact around 52 million memberships, a little over half of which are on the “Executive” plan.

The annual US and Canada “Gold Star” memberships, Business and Business add-on members will see fees increase by $5. The annual fee for a “Gold Star” member currently sits at $60 plus sales tax, Costco said in an announcement this week.

Higher-tier “Executive” members in the US and Canada will see annual fees increase from $120 to $130. The maximum annual 2 percent reward, associated with the Executive tier, will increase from $1,000 to $1,250.

This is the first membership price hike Costco has announced in seven years.

“To clear up some recent media speculation, I also want to confirm the $1.50 hot dog price is safe,” Costco’s new chief financial officer, Gary Millerchip, said in May.

"I came to [Sinegal] once, and I said, ‘Jim, we can’t sell this hot dog for a buck fifty. We are losing our rear ends.’ And he said, ‘If you raise the ef**** hot dog, I will kill you. Figure it out,” Jelinek recalled in a 2018 presentation, 425 Business reported.

I usually make dip with a packet of soup mix powder, but I was out so I did the following and it turned out well -- and since it was mostly with Coscto items, I thought I'd post here.

All measurements were eyeballed, so change as you desire:

  • 10oz frozen chopped spinach (cut spinach is too stringy, but if you want to use a food processor, you could use either, or substitute fresh spinach, kale, Yu Choy, Dau Miu, or anything else -- or skip completely)
  • 1 cup mayonnaise (from the giant jug taking up all that refrigerator space)
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1-2 tsp "Better Than Bullion" "Seasoned Vegetable Base" ("Organic Reduced Sodium") soup starter -- this is in the spice aisle and any variety will do
  • 1 tsp Kirkland "Organic No-Salt Seasoning" -- also in the spice aisle
  • a chunk of a pepper, minced (Italian long hot) -- can sub red bell pepper, another hot pepper, or omit
  • 2-3 fresh garlic cloves, minced (or skip if you don't love garlic)

Optional stuff you might like: chives/scallions/red onion, goat cheese, artichoke hearts, chopped mushrooms, sun-dried tomatoes, or go traditional and fry up a good sized onion until it is brown and caramelized to make more of a traditional 'french onion' dip.

Directions:

  1. In a small mixing bowl, microwave frozen spinach until warm, then lightly squeeze out excess water. It should be damp (to absorb the no-salt spice mix), but not so wet that the dip becomes soupy. If using a fresh veg, cook as desired.

  2. Add No-Salt Seasoning and Better Than Bullion to vegetable and mix together. Taste to ensure a bold flavor (the flavor will be softened by the dip base, but also bloom a bit as the dehydrated bits absorb moisture).

  3. Add garlic and fresh bell/chili/long-hot pepper, and any optional items you desire. Mix. If you are using a food processor, this is a good time to pulse everything together ... but you can also wait until the end if you need more bulk to mix properly.

  4. Add the sour cream and mayonnaise. Stir together. Add optional ingredients as desired. Refrigerate for an hour. Note: You can it serve immediately, but it is weird to have warm dip for potato chips.

Cascade Platinum is my favourite dishwasher detergent. I've been using it for years (https://cascadeclean.com/en-us/products/cascade-platinum-actionpacs-dishwasher-detergent-fresh-scent/)

In the last week, my local costco warehouse and costco.ca stopped providing Cascade Platinum. Instead, they're still selling Cascade Power Clean in green box (https://www.costco.ca/cascade-power-clean-dishwasher-detergent-actionpacs%2c-115-count.product.100483144.html) and they added a new product to the shelf Cascade Platinum Plus (https://www.costco.ca/cascade-platinum-plus-actionpacs%2c-81-count.product.4000230558.html)

I've tried the power green one, and I'm not satisfy with its quality: the smell of the food may remain in my dishwasher. The Platinum Plus is much more expensive than Platinum.

Does Costco changed the product line at your warehouse?

Has anyone had any luck requesting items?

I normally shop at a Costco near my home but my family resides in another part of our state and they go to a different one. I've noticed that their Costco gets way cooler items (jagarico, black thunder candy, like air puffcorn, etc) and I'm tempted to try and request some of them. How do I get these at my store?

Chex Mix Pack Date? (midwest.social)

Does anyone know when Costco will be getting the boxes of Chex for making Chex mix? (Has the three varieties needed in one box.)

The main allegation is that Costco lets Meta collect communications related to health care from its website, violating HIPAA and effectively acting as a wiretap of the customer.

The first lawsuit was news earlier in October, and the new one from the 25th appears to be similar. Links to first suit:

I got the "Spooky Chocolate Bundt" cake from my local Costco and absolutely hated it. To me, it wasn't chocolatey and the over-sweet icing tasted off. My better half thought it was delightful, so it'll get eaten but not by me. If you've tried it, please let us know which of us is right.

P.S. the only link I could find with an image was the linked yahoo piece.

Just got my renewal rate for my car insurance and it’s a massive increase from $450/6month to $750/6month. Anyone else get this kind of increase? I’ve got a clean driving record and can’t see what this would be coming from. They list vague market factors but seriously?

When posting in this community (costco at lemmy.world), if I post with Language=English, when I clicked “Reply”, the little circle on the button had been spinning and never finished.

If I left the Language unselected, or manually set to Undetermined, then my post could went through.

Is there any mod settings at this community?

I was very surprised after waiting all year to see them drastically cut the price a day after our summer tourist season ended. From $69 to $39 for a 2019, 2020, and 2021 cask strength releases 375ml. It has had the asterisk on the full price tag for awhile now and I was hoping this day would come. About a full pallet left when I got mine.

OK, yesterday at Costco, pallets of Christmas. Not just Christmas stuff but horrible looking decorations. Also, anyone else think Costco is becoming Sam’s Club with pallet after pallet of food products that are all sweets and carbs? More and more I have to beeline to products I need, close my eyes and get tf out. Anyone else feeling this?

Costcos of the World (www.visualcapitalist.com)

Some of these numbers are shocking. Who knew that Taiwan has 14 Costcos, whereas France only has 2 and New Zealand only 1?

Quite naive of me, but I assumed Costco prices were Costco prices. I needed gas, and was going to hit my local Costco--but realized there was one just a couple of miles away on my way home.

Filled up and then checked Gas Buddy. My "home" Costco was $4.99/gal and I had just paid $5.13/gal just 8 miles away.

Not a huge amount of money wasted, but sometimes it's the principle of the thing, you know? 😏

Can't buy anything stronger than beer and wine at Costco where I come from. Can't even get it delivered. It's un-American, I tell you!

I do not understand why people aren't satisfied with the uppermost (open) case of whatever when there's a large stack (and, let's face it--everything is stacked at Costco). I watch them struggle to lift 4 or 5 cases so they can pick one box of raisins from the 5th level down. I get if there was one left on top that was crushed or some other moron opened...but, really?

The other one is the family of 5 that walk next to each other (think front line of an NFL team) while pushing the cart as slowly as possible down the 'wrong' side of the aisle.

I am pining for Costco (sh.itjust.works)

Tragically, I moved and went from living 2 blocks from a Costco to 50 miles. Mainly I miss inexpensive cases of seltzer water… I went to a local grocery store and they were offering 8 cans of seltzer for $4.99, while normally I purchased a case of 24 for $5.70 at Costco. Back in the balmy halcyon days of May, I would walk to my local Costco with a dolly and return with a case of V8, some weird sparkly water from Washington, spinach, mushrooms, Diet Pepsi, Kettle chips, and much more…. and now, the memories are fading into the margins of history.

I am also missing the Kirkland hummus. I could use a vehicle and drive 52.3 miles (or so) to Costco, but it seems slightly unreasonable.
