TroubleshootingIf a community appears as a 404 page when you click it, it likely means that the community is being hosted outside of the instance you are currently using and that nobody in your instance has viewed or interacted with that specific community yet. In order to address this, you will need to copy-paste the specific handle for the community (for example, !tampabaylightning@lemmy.world) into your searchbar so that your instance can "learn" that it exists, after which the community should display via linked URLs without issue. Hopefully this is addressed by the lemmy devs and streamlined in the near future.

Its been a pretty fun start to the season. Just really don't want the streak to end to the Leafs, but I'm kinda expecting it.

I think it’s an improvement on the black and gold shirts originally but still falls short of the green and purple ones for me. I get wanting to create a different identity though.

No joke, that Dahlin hit on Krebs was dirty as fuck.

I know teammates occasionally get into it with one another; it is what it is, but to perform *that* hit on a teammate is arguably a worse look than the actual fight itself.

What was he thinking? Not exactly a great look for the new captain.

The Professional Women’s Hockey League on Tuesday announced the hiring of AHL executive Melissa Caruso to take over as general manager of its Minnesota franchise and shore up a team that dealt with several crises in the weeks after winning the league’s inaugural championship.

Caruso replaces former U.S. Olympian Natalie Darwitz, who was removed by the league in June following a monthslong review and mere weeks after Minnesota clinched the Walter Cup in a decisive fifth game. Hefford did not reveal the findings of the league’s review, which included input from players, staff and team partners, in saying the feedback was clear a change was required.

The troubles in Minnesota didn’t end there and with coach Ken Klee overseeing personnel decisions and the draft on an interim basis.

At the draft on June 10, Klee was questioned for using a second-round pick to select Britta Curl, who had drawn criticism from the women’s hockey and LGBTQ+ communities for supporting transphobic messaging on social media. Klee defended the decision to select the two-year Wisconsin captain by saying he spoke to numerous coaches and players who knew Curl.

When it came time for the Chicago Blackhawks to decide whether or not sexual assault against one of their own players should even be reported to the authorities just as the team clinched a spot in the 2010 Stanley Cup Final, general manager Stan Bowman was one of seven members of Chicago's front office to turn their heads and look the other way.

When it came time for the Edmonton Oilers to pick themselves back up after a devastating loss in Game 7 of the 2024 Stanley Cup Final, they turned to Bowman.

Make no mistake, someone would've hired him sooner if they could. The NHL reinstated Bowman on July 1 after exiling him for nearly three years following the Brad Aldrich scandal in Chicago. Former Blackhawks head coach Joel Quenneville and executive Al MacIsaac were reinstated, too, and it's hard to imagine they won't find gainful employment in hockey's top circuit soon enough.

The NHL lifted its ban on longtime coach Joel Quenneville and executives Stan Bowman and Al MacIsaac on Monday, clearing the way for their return to the league more than two years after they were punished in the fallout from the Chicago's NHL team sexual assault scandal.

"For more than the last two and a half years, these individuals have been ineligible to work for any NHL team as a result of their inadequate response upon being informed in 2010 of allegations that [Chicago] player Kyle Beach had been assaulted by the club's video coach," the league said, "While it is clear that, at the time, their responses were unacceptable, each of these three individuals ... has acknowledged that and used his time away from the game to engage in activities which not only demonstrate sincere remorse for what happened, but also evidence greater awareness of the responsibilities that all NHL personnel have, particularly personnel who are in positions of leadership."
