The Abandon Harris movement that sprouted late last year out of the widespread outrage over the Biden-Harris administration’s support for the ongoing Israeli war on Gaza has officially endorsed the Green Party’s Jill Stein for US president.

The endorsement is the first of its kind for Stein and the Green Party, with the Abandon Harris campaign being the first major Muslim-led political group to endorse her campaign this election cycle. Last month, a smaller group, the Muslim American Public Affairs Council NC, also endorsed Stein.

“We are not choosing between a greater evil and a lesser evil. We are confronting two destructive forces: one currently overseeing a genocide and another equally committed to continuing it. Both are determined to see it through,” the Abandon Harris campaign said in a statement released on Monday.

I just wish we had STAR voting so additional candidates wouldn't increase the risk of Trump winning the election. So many people are either blind to the present danger or they spread misinformation because they hate the US.

Do you believe that third party voters could be perfectly rational and not spread misinformation?

I believe you're in the group wishing for a disastrous outcome.

Is Communism a "disastrous outcome" in your opinion, and genocide perfectly acceptable? You're being vague yet still slandering.

[-] banshee@lemmy.world 4 points 1 month ago

No. I believe you sincerely disagree with core tenets of US government and wish the government to be dismantled.

[-] Cowbee@lemmy.ml 5 points 1 month ago

Correct, that's the best outcome for everyone the world over, including Americans.

You're entitled to that opinion. That's why I assumed you to be in the latter group.

I'm certainly wrong about plenty of things, but I have seen too much violence and hatred grow out of Trump's first presidency. I do not share your desires for the US.

Trump didn't cause it, decay in Capitalism did. Trump was just a symptom of the broader problem. I am not spreading misinformation nor blind.

Ok so you don't believe you're spreading misinformation. You are, however, spreading information that seeks to undermine US government institutions.

We can debate all day, and both of us will be at least partially incorrect. Many of our problems can also be attributed to religious institutions. There is one hill I'll die on though: Trump is an evil bastard.

Sure, I hate the genocidal US Empire, and want Communism. That's not "spreading misinformation."

We can debate all day, and both of us will be at least partially incorrect.

Speak for yourself.

Many of our problems can also be attributed to religious institutions

Somewhat, but generally religious "values" mold to support the Mode of Production. Religion and culture are aspects of the Superstructure that reinforces the Base, ergo the core of the issue is Capitalism.

There is one hill I'll die on though: Trump is an evil bastard.

Not once have I disagreed with that, I just extend that judgement to the US Imperial State, not Trump alone. Trump is only as powerful as he is because Capitalism is in decay, and fascism is Capitalism in decline. You can't stop fascism without stopping Capitalism.
