It's possible this is a parody.

The sidebar on the article has a "Most Recent Articles" section with headlines such as "Nintendo patents walking in video games", "Elon Musk creates second AI to disprove the first, instantly regrets decision" and "X algorithm set to 'most problematic' for months; no one notices."

This idea reminds me of the old Leisure Suit Larry games which had a screen in them you could call up any time that looked vaguely like a spreadsheet, in case you were playing at work and your boss walked in. Which had basically no hope of holding up to scrutiny because it was a white screen with some black lines on it but...yeah same concept.
