It's really is just that simple, isn't it? I bet they don't even have to know the oligarch to side with them. Like if there were two buttons and they had to press one; one said, "kill ordinary person with no major moral failings"; the other, "rich, confirmed pedophile, oligarch." They would slam the kill ordinary person button before reading the other.
They would also throw each other into the volcano if they thought it would help them personally.

Honestly you’re still not 100% wrong. People that think they have money are the ultra-riches’ favourite people because they think they’re part of the club.
