Sorry, that was a bit cheeky, as I know there isn't a proper solution at this time.
The thing is, Steam is so much more than a game store. It fixes games to let them run on my OS of choice, and that can be far more than just running Wine. It includes fixing controller support, for both game selection and making controllers work in games than were originally only coded for Xbox controllers.
Just saying "use Gog" completely missed the thousands of quality of life improvements that Valve have invested.
and we all can be thankful for it but this is a post regarding GoG so uh I don't even know why OP had to remark that Steam which is so much more than a distribution and shop system is way better than GoG.
