Plenty of G*mers out there who would gladly just give their wallet over to their favorite developer/publisher. Even here on Lemmy. I even got downvoted for telling someone that no one was forcing them to buy the next new console when it comes out, and they replied that yes they will if their partner finds out about a particular new game. I was flabbergasted.

It doesn't surprise me at all. In fact I've seen other similar comments on other steam games that people like riding the dick of.

Unless you need a primer on how to discern literal statements from “functionally true” ones, which I honestly think is very unlikely, you should really try to be a little more generous in your interpretation of other people‘s words. They’re just saying their partner is going to be very excited about a certain game and want to play it, so there will be a bit of pressure to accommodate it and these problems are not enough to warrant making their partner unhappy. There are a lot of places for instance that I boycott, but if I’m with a group of people and they want to go there, I’m not necessarily going to make a big stink about it.
