Only a tip of the iceberg. Some teachers would teach the war crimes committed by US imperialists, but not the majority. Being critical isn't against the law, but it's almost like a taboo.

Does the average citizen in occupied korea know they are occupied? or that an american general holds the maximun authority of the military?

Not sure how true this is, but I've read that it's common knowledge among Occupied Koreans, that South Korea is just an Amerikkkan puppet state, and it's common to joke that South Korea is "the Republic of Samsung".

Also apparently most Occupied Koreans supposedly are at least nominally supportive of Kim Jong-Un, the DPRK, and socialism.
