I can't answer you re the warranty question, no idea if third party warranties are any good (I steer away from them for consumer appliances). But I totally relate to you paying a bit more to get it over and done with. I think the seller for the car I ended up buying sensed that as well, I probably could've knocked another $500 off at least but I was so over it at that point. Slim pickings in the sub $8k range that I was willing to deal with.

If I can get the trade in for near the top of the range on RedBook (its very low mileage, so I should) plus $500 off the advertised price I'll be happy, but I'm going to try for a bit lower. I don't know that my negotiation skills are up to that, but guess I'll find out.
