@flashlight I may have overheated my brass TS10. The battery wrap shrank.

I used it continuously in candle mode @ high with the original silicone diffuser for a video shoot, and found the battery looking like that, opening the light right after stepdown (and almost burning my fingers).

candle mode

This might be the problem, candle mode has no thermal regulation if I remember correctly.

Glad you weren’t hurt and hopefully the cell can be rewrapped.

@Reader9 I wasn't aware of that ! Thank you for pointing it out.

@containerfan@lemmy.world maybe a feature request for your already very detailed UI diagram could be to add a tiny warning to the blinking modes?

Yeah, possibly if I can find a way to squeeze it in. Can you confirm which mode lack thermal regulation? I think it's more than just candle mode. Does it apply to all of the blinkies? For some reason, I thought this was fixed in a later version.

Been looking for a primary source but the manual doesn’t specifically mention candle mode, only tactical strobe

  • Tactical strobe Disorienting strobe light. Can be used to irritate people. Speed is configurable, and the duty cycle is always 33%. Be careful about heat in this mode, if using it for a long time.

And then other places people mention this also applies to candle mode (like this BLF post).

Toykeeper herself confirmed that the strobes have no thermal regulation.

As of 2023-10, only the ramp mode has thermal regulation
