I personally use a Pixel 9 with GraphineOS, I would love to use a fairphone however they desperately need to get themselves together and improve security significantly.

I can't tell you the details but for some good reasons, GrapheneOS don't support Fairphone hardware. They somehow fuck things up in the security domain.

Is that security update thing an issue for GrapheneOS though? It is supposed to replace the Fairphone Android, no? Then again, I'm not familiar with the weirdness of the Android an embedded ecosystem.

I was referring to Fairphones stock android build, GraphineOS is extremely secure. Thats why GraphineOS doesn't support Fairphone. Specifically there are advanced low level security issues on the Fairphone that cannot be fixed with an OS.
