Memes have often been ripoffs of copyrighted material anyway, so I think making silly jokes that can’t be profited from is the one of the most “ethical” uses for AI that you’re gonna find.

For “real” art, however you choose to define that, nothing will ever beat a genuine, human artist. Period.

For memes, I don’t care where the images come from. The art is in the humor, the combination of text plus imagery, and only a person is going to get that right. I don’t know if that answers your question, but those are my thoughts on the subject.
