I’m not American and it was a genuine question. No need for that.
Not sure why you're getting so many downvotes.
If it helps any Americans understand, the rest of the world treats US Politics in much the same way as you would a tyre fire. Keep an eye on it to make sure it's not spreading, but be careful not to get too close or breathe too much in, otherwise you'll make yourself ill.
I feel an increasingly strong 'if you're not with us you're against us'-vibe going on in posts that have to do with america, might be because there is backlash by tankies and bots but this seems like an example of a genuine question being answered with a hostile reaction.
they're getting downvotes because they're doing literally the exact thing astroturfing accounts do.
