I have to agree with this one. I acknowledge that feet are indeed connected to genitalia via nerves, but I highly, highly doubt that's the reason that viewing a woman's bare feet makes some men horny. I don't think the foot fetish is about her and/or her nerves or pleasure at all. It's a simple matter of getting to see an often delicate looking body part that is usually concealed, and being allowed to interact with them in a sexual way. I'm more of a butt/thighs/hips guy, myself.
There are so many unique things that arouse people. You know that rule that there's a fetish for everything. I strongly suspect it's a human wiring issue, some related evolutionary advantage that manifests as having things for feet, or hair colors, or freckles or untold less socially acceptable things.
I agree with you both; it's the most logical explanation. See also: cultures that don't revere womens' breasts (likely) since they're never covered.

how heteronormative and male centric. what about women who like male feet? what about queer people who like feet?
That's really not how it works. Sure, there may be some of that, but it's not a "simple matter" as you described at all. There's much, much more to it than that.
