As someone who isn't into feet, I've always just assumed it's because uncovered feet are vaugely intimate. As in feet are mostly covered by shoes but when you get to see them uncovered it might just mean the situation has gotten intimate. I mean that's basically the idea behind any societal view which dictates that women should cover any particular part of their body, it's not that muslim people inherently find hair sexy, it's the societal norms which attached an intimate meaning to hair.

Especially when they're in my mouth

don't forget the shame. the wrongness of it is very much part of it. like, most people think feet are kind of gross, so it feels taboo to like them. taboo is one of the strongest things in fetishes. "this is so wrong/dirty" is a powerful thought for the horny mind.

honestly, if/when society becomes more accepting of foot fetishes i bet that will actually decrease the number of people that have one. if society stops shaming them it likely won't get them off the same way.

I've yet to meet a woman who wasn't into a good foot-rub. It's my go-to opening move for the Netflix-and-Chill date and rarely fails to end in us at least making out. I never really got "foot-fetish" as a guy thing. It struck me more as a girl thing, with women using "rub my feet" as an excuse to initiate intimacy. And some guys just decided if a woman was showing any amount of feet, she must be coming on to him.

I mean that’s basically the idea behind any societal view which dictates that women should cover any particular part of their body, it’s not that muslim people inherently find hair sexy, it’s the societal norms which attached an intimate meaning to hair.

I think the issue isn't the presentation of hair, but of femininity. And the more extreme interpretations of this (hardly unique to Islam - Puritanical Christians, orthodox Jews, and other more fanatical patriarchal faiths also demand women hide themselves) are about disguising any aspect of a person that might lead to a man being aroused. Eventually, you're just shoving women into an entirely separate room, because the presumption is that men have zero self-control in any social setting.

I have to agree with this one. I acknowledge that feet are indeed connected to genitalia via nerves, but I highly, highly doubt that's the reason that viewing a woman's bare feet makes some men horny. I don't think the foot fetish is about her and/or her nerves or pleasure at all. It's a simple matter of getting to see an often delicate looking body part that is usually concealed, and being allowed to interact with them in a sexual way. I'm more of a butt/thighs/hips guy, myself.

There are so many unique things that arouse people. You know that rule that there's a fetish for everything. I strongly suspect it's a human wiring issue, some related evolutionary advantage that manifests as having things for feet, or hair colors, or freckles or untold less socially acceptable things.

viewing a woman’s bare feet makes some men horny

how heteronormative and male centric. what about women who like male feet? what about queer people who like feet?

It’s a simple matter of getting to see an often delicate looking body part that is usually concealed, and being allowed to interact with them in a sexual way

That's really not how it works. Sure, there may be some of that, but it's not a "simple matter" as you described at all. There's much, much more to it than that.

[–] ProfessorProteus@lemmy.world 8 points 6 hours ago

I agree with you both; it's the most logical explanation. See also: cultures that don't revere womens' breasts (likely) since they're never covered.

I'm more of a butt/thighs/hips guy, myself.

so when you go to the beach or pool with friends it's intimate?

[–] thedirtyknapkin@lemmy.world 3 points 2 hours ago* (last edited 2 hours ago) (2 children)

yes lol. have you seen a bikini? that's explicitly intimate and provocative. it's the most naked you're allowed to be in public without people calling you out.

beaches are often considered inherently sexual places. like "Beach episode" is synonymous with fan service.

[–] ThatGuy46475@lemmy.world 5 points 2 hours ago (2 children)

Like the beach scene in saving private Ryan

[–] thedirtyknapkin@lemmy.world 1 points 10 minutes ago

i mean... we saw parts of them that we don't normally. there's even a taboo around seeing those parts. taboo is the heart of many fetishes.

[–] stebo02@sopuli.xyz -1 points 1 hour ago* (last edited 1 hour ago) (1 children)

so you genuinely believe you've been intimate with your friends just because you've seen some exposed skin?

[–] thedirtyknapkin@lemmy.world 0 points 15 minutes ago* (last edited 12 minutes ago) (1 children)

I'm not going i argue the symantics of what "intimate" means. the point is that the beach is a sexual place for certain.

i have been intimate with many of my friends. much of it starts at the beach lol.

[–] stebo02@sopuli.xyz 1 points 1 minute ago

if the beach and the pool are sexual places then children wouldn't be allowed
