any chance Iran allowed this as a face saving gesture for trump? Like america can say "we did our part" and now Iran and isisrael can finish their biz without any more involvement?

Non-zero chance but it would be even dumber than the attempts of Russia at dialogue and repproachment with the west while the west's actions are nothing but murder against them.
