Edit: so it turns out that every hobby can be expensive if you do it long enough.

Also I love how you talk about your hobby as some addicts.

Same problem. I have now 5 bikes:

  • Old, but nice city road race bike (I needed a bike...)
  • Nice road race bike (racing bikes are nice, let's look at high-end ones, they are surely not that expensive...)
  • Mountain bike (wait I cannot go to this close-by trail with my road bikes...)
  • Touring bike (GF: let's cycle to this remote place ... )
  • Triathlon bike ( here I got too ambitious... )
  • NOW: I want a gravel bike, they are so nice, please send help ;)

5... those are rookie numbers, you've got to pump those numbers up!

If I only had somewhere to keep them…

Got three road bikes:

  • my first one: Shimano Sora 3x, aluminum frame. Still in use for commutes and bad weather rides.
  • the good one. Shimano 105, Rim brakes, aluminum. It just works and it well balanced. I the long rides, it’s actually the best of those three, even if it’s not the fastest.
  • Aero road bike, eTap shifters, discs, carbon frame and rims. I’m always anxious I could brake something to the point I can’t really enjoy it.

I actually thought about getting a triathlon bike too, just know how much faster I could go on it. Then again, I never even participated in cycling events anyway.
