Bees are almost all female. The males' job is to fertilise the queen's eggs, have their penis explode and then die.

And if they're still alive come autumn, their sisters kick them out of the hive. No freeloaders! (I've seen this happen, it's quite brutal. The drone is struggling to get back inside into the warm, but the workers just shove him out.)

Bees are brutal. In some colonies, they'll bee ball queens that are no longer fecund. "Thanks for all the babies, now roast to death!" In others, the new queen beats the old queen to death.
